On October 29, 2026, AgScape Executive Director Amanda Robertson presented to the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry during their study on Food Security in Canada.
Thank you to Amanda for furthering AgScape’s message and emphasizing the importance of agriculture and food systems literacy within the K-12 sector in order to ensure a food secure future for Canada.
"We are a very modern and innovative sector, and it requires innovation that really needs to be sparked during K to 12. We can’t wait until students are in post-secondary or beyond to do skills training. We need to be doing workforce development where it is that initial inspiration, and you can see yourself in the sector and you can see where your skillset fits. Regardless of skillset or interests, there is a career in agriculture and food for every student in those classrooms."

Earlier this month, we hosted a Virtual Field Trip exploring the exciting world of soybean farming at Snobelen Farms (@SnobelenGrain), an export facility in Lucknow, Ontario. 🌾
Over 800 grades 4–8 students across 26 schools learned how Ontario soybeans are handled, prepared for export, and shipped to markets around the world, connecting Ontario agriculture to the global food system.
We want to thank Colin and Faith for taking us behind-the-scenes on this tour and to all of the attendees for joining us on this Virtual Field Trip!

Afterwards, getting to bring some of the eggs back home for brunch was the perfect way to end the morning with delicious, farm-fresh Ontario eggs. 🍳
