Ryan Kelly loved his time in Minnesota.
He loved his neighbors. He loved his teammates. He loved the way Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings’ org supported him.
This is a story about the toll concussions take, and why it’s so simultaneously hard to let go:

Very interesting times for these Vikings. Really big opportunity Monday night vs. Bills, then very quick turnaround Tuesday with trade deadline. Team has absolutely made lots of calls for weeks on several positions. Just a critical juncture. Must be mindful of Super Bowl-caliber defense, and a superstar WR in Justin Jefferson who is understandably frustrated.
Did not see WR Jauan Jennings at Vikings practice in the portion available to media. Was limited with calf injury yesterday.
Vikings Justin Jefferson on why it hasn't happened: "I'm not sure. That's a good question. But we've got to figure out that answer — and figure it out fast."
Vikings Justin Jefferson: "I feel like the potential and the guys that we have in that room is something very, very special. I feel like we're wasting that by not going out and executing the plays that we have called."

Justin Jefferson endured 2025 with a scowl.
He said all the right things. He toed the company line at every turn.
Sunday night’s silence was a statement. If now is not the time for offensive accountability among Vikings players and staff, then when?

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell: "I think we'll get really good quarterback play. My expectation is that Carson (Wentz) is going to play really well. Because we've called on him multiple times, and he's stepped in. We've had production when that's happened."
Here's the first hit on the latest spin on the Vikings QB carousel... nytimes.com/athletic/7756421…
Vikings QB carousel:
2022: Kirk Cousins
2023: Kirk Cousins, Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullens, Jaren Hall
2024: Sam Darnold
2025: J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz, Max Brosmer
2026: Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz
Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell says that QB Kyler Murray has a hamstring strain. Week-to-week thing. Carson Wentz will start Monday night against the Bills.
Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell says LT Christian Darrisaw will participate today. S Theo Jackson won't practice today.
One thing I mentioned in this: The Vikings’ passing game had very little synergy throughout training camp, regardless of who the QB was. Always hard to parse defense’s role in that. But it did mirror 2025 camp in many ways.

The Vikings have signed RB DeeJay Dallas to the 53-man roster. An expected move. He was out of practice squad call-ups. Has been important on ST and took lots of RB snaps last Sunday.
I really thought this would be an element of the Vikings' offense this year that gave them an advantage with Frank Smith's hiring. Definitely more runs with motion. But not a significant number, and lack of efficiency speaks for itself here.

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL
My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express.
I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.
My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this.
I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.
To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people.
One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.
Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough.
God is good. My faith is strong.
