A kitchen garden can put nutritious food on the table and extra income in a family’s pocket. In Kakindo Village, model couples are learning how to make better use of the land around their homes by growing vegetables for family consumption and sale. Fellow farmer Asiimwe Prudence shared practical climate-smart farming techniques that couples can apply using the resources they already have. With prolonged droughts and unpredictable rainfall affecting farming, these skills can help families manage water better, improve soil fertility and protect their food supply. The couples welcomed ACFODE’s support in extending beyond GBV prevention to include livelihood empowerment.
