Excited to be covering the #Badgers again, serving as the Minnesota correspondent for @KedrickStumbris and @BadgerBreakaway.
It’s a Border Battle: No. 1 Wisconsin at No. 18 Minnesota. Will have updates all weekend long, so hope you follow along!
Dave Jenson said corner kicks weren't a strength of the Edina boys soccer team. ⚽️
Could've fooled us.
The Hornets scored on four of them in the first half Wednesday, and will play for a second straight title. 🐝
My recap for the @lakeconference_:

At 8:00 am, it'd be understandable if it took a little while to settle into a game. 💤
Not the Wayzata boys soccer team. ⚔️
The Trojans scored 65 seconds in, didn't look back, and will play in the title game. ⚽️

FINAL
Edina 🐝 5
St. Paul Central 🔴 0
Goals
🐝 | Bedros (5'), Mcardle (11'), Seim (24', 41'), McCormick (28'),
What a win from Edina. Completely buried the Minutemen with a first-half flurry of corner kicks, and they're back in the final once again.
It'll be an all-Lake battle with Wayzata on Saturday.
The second half is underway, and 48 seconds in, Edina already has another goal. A perfect pass springs Seim in behind the defense for his second of the morning.

HALFTIME
Edina 🐝 4
St. Paul Central 🔴 0
What an opening 40 minutes for the Hornets. Four goals off of four corner kicks have Edina on the verge of a return trip to the championship.
Lot of regrouping to do in the Minutemen halftime huddle.
The rout is officially on. Another goal off of a corner for Edina!
This one deflects in off of Nick McCormick after the service by Andrew Hahn. Hornets with an absurd first half today.

Another goal off of a corner for Edina!
This one is pretty inexplicable for the Minutemen. The Hornets went short off this corner, and Elijah Seim dribbled it all the way to the net along the end line pretty much unchallenged.
Perhaps an early dagger?

Someone has to do it with all the games they need to fit in here today, but it's a real shame a team has to play at 8 am.
Even with the two hours later, 10:00 am start, the difference in the amount of students and fan support is incredibly noticeable.
Edina continuing to make things happen off the corners!
Ronan Mcardle takes advantage with a slam dunk from in tight after St. Paul Central failed to clear. Two corners, two goals off of the them for the Hornets today.
A nightmare start for Central.

St. Paul Central comes out super strong, but the Hornets are able to weather that storm and grab a goal of their own!
Off of a corner that caromed away from the mixer, Jack Bedros gets it just inside the box and uncorks a perfect shot in the lower corner.

FINAL
Wayzata ⚔️ 3
Duluth East 🐕 1
⚔️ | Maahs (7'), Soeffker (41', 56')
🐕 | Lehr (65')
Two second-half goals from George Soeffker proved to be the difference-maker in this one. Duluth East got one late, but couldn't get any more after.
The Trojans are back in the final!
Duluth East gets on the board. Connor Lehr polishes one off from in tight after a couple of players got touches in the box.
Some life for the Greyhounds with still a decent chunk of time left to play.

3-0 Wayzata... Soeffker has a brace!
Great pass to him from Preston WIlliams. Trojans are well on their way tot he final, barring a complete meltdown in the final 25 minutes.
56' | ⚔️ 3, 🐕 0
Just 55 seconds into the second half, George Soeffker strikes for Wayzata!
Just a perfectly placed free kick right into the upper 90. Not much you can do there if you're Lindaman. Soeffker's 18th goal of the season.

Wayzata ⚔️ 1
Duluth East 🐕 0
Tyler Maahs's goal in the second minute the only one in this game so far that has otherwise been a defensive struggle.
Wayzata 40 solid minutes away from their first final since 2023.
