"Keeping communities safe means taking action before a storm arrives. Cal OES is putting the Governor’s emergency proclamation into action by leading coordination among state agencies, preparing resources, and supporting our local partners. Together, we’re working to protect vital routes like Highway 1, which coastal communities depend on to evacuate safely, connect with essential services, and receive help during emergencies." - Cal OES Director Caroline Thomas Jacobs
I just issued two executive orders to bolster protections along our coasts — and around Highway 1 — ahead of potentially dangerous El Niño storms. We're proactively putting state agencies to work to guard against possible storm damage and road closures.

Thanks to @CAgovernor’s action, we’re moving faster than ever to prepare for El Niño. This includes working around the clock with local, state and federal partners to protect our communities – from reinforcing key portions of our Pacific Coast Highway to speeding approvals for flood and storm safety projects.

California is taking early action along Highway 1 to help guard against damage from any El Niño storms over the next few months. We're committed to reducing possible storm-caused closures for the communities, businesses, and first responders depending on this critical route.

MAJOR MILESTONE! Prop 1 has now DELIVERED more than 2,900 PERMANENT HOMES for Californians, including our brave veterans.
This July, California counties will receive $1 BILLION under Prop 1 to expand affordable housing and provide vital services for those experiencing homelessness and living with behavioral health challenges. No more excuses. Let's see these tax dollars put to work.

Fantastic news in our defense against Donald Trump's attacks on our Constitution and elections. Make no mistake: Trump won't stop trying to illegally seize power or deface our democracy. California will keep fighting back.
A federal appeals court has rejected the Trump administration's unprecedented attempt to force California to set aside votes from 20,000 people it claims are noncitizens. cnn.it/3W9di2Z

The @CalStateLA bachelor's degree initiative just launched at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. With 81.5% of students who earned rehabilitative credits remaining conviction-free after release, we're setting folks up for success after incarceration and creating safer, stronger communities.

Safer communities start with accountability, prevention, and hope. With crime at record lows across California, we're continuing to invest in law enforcement, victim support, and rehabilitation at facilities like San Quentin to give people the tools to turn their lives around.

Governor Gavin Newsom retweeted
California continues to lead. Many of our innovative efforts to fight benefit theft, including the implementation of chip-and-tap EBT cards, will soon become the model for the nation. More from USDA: fna.usda.gov/snap/fr-102326. More on CA efforts: bit.ly/3UiStBF.

With historic drops in crime across California, we're doubling down on our proven California Model — both accountability and rehabilitation. At Corcoran State Prison, we're introducing a new staff-led housing community to better prepare individuals to return to their community.

Any credible allegation of voter fraud should be taken seriously and investigated.    That being said, the action by Trump’s DOJ — charging just 28 individuals — suggests they have no evidence to back up their claims just last week of TENS or HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of illegally registered voters. Yes, non-citizen voter registration and voting does happen in isolated instances — in California and the rest of the country alike — but it is so rare that the Trump admin is parading around town about .0001% of California voters. If the feds were serious about this, they would have done this long ago — not in the middle of people voting, which inherently and needlessly sows distrust and doubt in our democracy.

California's September revenue came in at a whopping $2.9 BILLION above forecasts. As our economy continues to grow, we will keep betting on the future being built right here in the Golden State.
