Loving how retweets into the "Following" timeline are no longer marked as retweets on web Twitter, but also loving how it's literally impossible to tell whether this is things being randomly broken or some half arsed attempt to improve engagement or something

I thought yesterday was April Fools' day, and this has been a very confusing morning.

As ridiculous as this is, this isn't even a WCAG failure. And this is an example proof of why WCAG conformance does not guarantee usability. WCAG is the bare minimum for accessibility, but your job does not end with ticking items off a list. Perform usability tests when u can.
Wait a second. Why does @stripe uses H1 tags for everything? They have something like 50 H1 tags on the homepage.

In one week we've gone from "Microsoft made Google dance" to "Bing is an emotionally manipulative liar." What a tremendous shift!

Today marks the launch of my new company website, millsdocs.com, with copy by me (of course!), and design/branding work by the amazing @jake74 ! Have a look, let me know what you think, and pass it on to anyone that might need a tech writer.

If I had to wager, Twitter's a dead site walking and won't be a significant part of public or tech discourse by this time next year. I'd make the same bet against Mastodon. It won't go away, but the public wants a global town square, and Mastodon structurally cannot be that.

The only way out I can imagine is Twitter's current owner selling at an enormous loss, and soon enough for someone more savvy to turn it around. But with the damage already done... I wouldn't bet on it.

On the one hand: there goes the neighborhood. On the other hand: if this gets people out of less secure apps and into Signal, then maybe it's worth it. But will it?
Give your friends a peek into your life -- privately and securely -- with Signal's new stories feature. Share disappearing text, images, and video updates with select contacts or groups. More here: signal.org/blog/introducing-…

This week is also "there goes the neighborhood" for Twitter. And maybe for American democracy. Less neighborhoods going, please.
