SITTING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GUN… I’m not writing for likes or attention. I’m writing because I’VE LIVED IT! I grew up in South City Projects in Tallahassee, raised by a single mother who did everything she could to give her boys a better life. In 1992, my little brother Fred was killed at just 18 years old. One bullet changed our family forever. So when I hear people saying, “Lock up the parents,” I ask: Do you really think my mother wanted to bury her son? Yes, I made it out of South City and into the NFL, but people will never know the hell I went through to survive. After football, I spent over 20 years coaching and working in education, trying to save young people. WHY? BECAUSE I COULDN’T SAVE MY LITTLE BROTHER! Sports saved my life. Coaches believed in me. But today, too many children are being punished instead of being reached. YOU HAVE TO LOVE CHILDREN TO REACH CHILDREN! Gun violence isn’t just a parenting problem. It’s a community problem, an education problem, and an American problem. We all must be accountable. To the families affected by the FAMU Homecoming tragedy, my prayers are with you. I’m 55 years old, and God has blessed me beyond my dreams. But no NFL contract, championship, or amount of money can bring Fred back. I MADE IT OUT OF SOUTH CITY, BUT SOUTH CITY WILL NEVER LEAVE ME! We must stop pointing fingers and start saving our children. ALL CHILDREN! Rest in peace, Fred. I will never forget you. ❤️🙏🏾 TAG AND #justwork #loveyourlife @FSUFootball

Charlie Strong says he interviewed for around 20 head coaching jobs and kept getting rejected again and again, and says it wasn’t until Lou Holtz gave him a reason to keep interviewing that was bigger than himself that he landed the Louisville job “It really started for me just being an assistant coach and interviewing for all of these jobs, and I never could get one. I bet I interviewed for 20 jobs. I was an assistant, and I can remember I was at South Carolina with Lou Holtz and Mike McGee was the AD.” “They would actually interview me before I went on my interview. I would sit down with Coach Holtz, and he’d be like, ‘No, you can’t say that. This is the way we’re going to answer that.’ Then I’d go see Mike McGee, and he’d say, ‘These are the questions that the AD wants to hear, and these are the answers that you’ve got to give them.’ So then I would go on the interview, and people would say, ‘Well, he didn’t do a good job.’ And I’m sitting there like, ‘I know I did a good job.’ I’m not going to even hear that.” “So one day I went to Coach Holtz and I said, ‘Coach, I’m not doing it anymore.’ He said, ‘What do you mean you’re not doing it anymore?’ I said, ‘Coach, I just feel like I’m a token. I’m just going on all these interviews and I’m getting none of the jobs. Every time they say he’s a poor interviewer and he’s not prepared, and I was prepared. Coach had given me all the information. I was probably overly prepared.’” “He said, ‘You can’t do that.’ And I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘There are a lot of African-American coaches who are not getting the opportunity that you’re getting. So if you say you don’t want to do it, then those are guys who may not get that opportunity because they’re going to look at you and say, “Well, Charlie’s saying he doesn’t want to do this anymore.” So now, since he’s saying that, there’s no need in me going to interview someone else.’” “I can remember I was at the University of Florida and we had just won a national championship. Up until that time, whoever won a national championship, one of the coordinators got a job. And I didn’t get one.” “We go recruiting, and it’s Urban and myself, and Urban’s like, ‘I just got a phone call, and I feel bad for you, and I’ve got to tell you, one of our coaches is going to get a head coaching job and they didn’t ask about you.’ And I said, ‘You know what, Urban? I’m so over it now. The only thing I can do now is do the job that I do and hope that I do a good enough job that someone else, that they will look at another brother and he can get a job off of the work that I’m doing. I’m past that now.’”

As I reflect on my life and everything I’ve been through, I realize that some of my greatest lessons have come from my own mistakes, disappointments, and painful experiences. There have been times when I’ve had to ask God for forgiveness, times when I’ve had to forgive others, and times when I’ve had to look in the mirror and admit that I needed to change. I’m not perfect, and I don’t pretend to be. I’m simply someone who has been blessed by God’s grace and mercy, and I’m still a work in progress. The Bible reminds us that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) That’s why I believe we should spend less time judging others and more time examining our own hearts. Some of life’s greatest tests are in how we treat people who have mistreated us. I’ve learned that you can’t allow someone else’s behavior to steal your peace or change your heart. We all have scars, but sometimes you have to show yours so someone else knows that healing is possible, recovery is real, and God can renew your mind. Your scars are not signs of defeat; they’re evidence that God’s grace has carried you through. Protect your peace, extend grace, and keep growing. Don’t let what someone did to you stop what God is doing through you. #blessed #justwork @FSUFootball

NEVER COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY TO SOMEONE ELSE’S! Your life, your journey, and your purpose were designed by God specifically for you. Believe in yourself and believe in the greatness God has placed within you. Wake up every morning with faith, confidence, and determination. Attack each day believing that success is inevitable because God has already equipped you for the journey. Remember, EASY was never the promise, but VICTORY was! Keep speaking what you believe, because if you’re not careful, what you see will cause you to doubt what God has already promised. Stop wasting your time comparing, complaining, and questioning your journey. Invest your time and energy into becoming better spiritually, mentally, and physically. Most importantly, invest in a REAL relationship with GOD. When you put Him first, trust His timing, and walk by faith instead of sight, you will understand that every delay, setback, and struggle has a purpose. Your journey is YOUR journey. Trust God, trust the process, and NEVER stop working! #justwork #FaithOverFear #TrustGod @USABaseball @USAPrimeNat @FSUBaseball @FSUFootball

🚨WOW!!! Students at a Georgia High School pranked their principal by staging a "fake fight" at school and calling the Principal to break it up... ...as he rushes in to pull the students apart, they all started singing him Happy Birthday He's so revealed and happy.

GROWTH TAKES TIME! 🙏🏾 Growth takes time. Be patient. Growth takes time. Be realistic. Growth takes time. Be persistent. Growth takes time. Stay committed. Stop focusing so much on how far you have to go that you forget how far God has already brought you. You may not be where you want to be, but thank God you’re not where you used to be! Remember, your focus determines your direction, your faith determines your strength, and your consistency determines your growth. Everybody wants the blessing, but not everybody is willing to go through the process. You cannot rush what God is preparing you for. Keep working when nobody is watching. Keep believing when nothing seems to be changing. Keep trusting God when you cannot see the finish line. Don’t allow what you see today to make you doubt what God has promised for tomorrow. Your journey is not over. Your story is still being written. Stay humble, stay hungry, and stay faithful. God’s timing is always greater than your timeline! God Bless. 🙏🏾 #justwork #blessed #FaithOverFear @FSUFootball
