True. Youth survivors of #sextrafficking are often more vulnerable when they are or have been connected to the child welfare system. Youth transitioning out of the #fostercare system after turning 18 are especially at risk due to the loss of their basic needs being met. #endit

TRUTH from @rights4girls + @Courtneyshouse: BIPOC girls being trafficked at higher rates is the continuation of the US’ legacy of violence dating back to colonization and slavery.
Though #sextrafficking can be a complex and layered issue, at least one thing is crystal clear — it is an inhumane system that promulgates #violence by devaluing people, particularly on the basis of their #race and #gender. bit.ly/POCSexTrafficking

In discussing the pathway to end trafficking in persons, we know that must involve shrinking the demand of the sex industry - buyers of sex who continue to grow the industry.

Join me Friday, Jan. 29th at 12pm ET for an important discussion on racial disparities and human trafficking. Let’s learn how to keep DC safe from #humantrafficking with special guests from @Courtneyshouse, @HTLegalCenter, and @rights4girls.
Friday - join us! We need more conversations about why black and brown survivors make up over 80% of trafficking survivors.
AND why white men buy sex at such a higher rate than any other race.
