The route was unveiled just a few days ago, and preparations and route reconnaissance are continuing in both Morocco and Portugal. And it was precisely in Portugal that Dakar Rally Director David Castera was welcomed today by the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP) at its headquarters for a press conference presenting the upcoming edition. The event was attended by Carlos Barbosa, President of the ACP, Ni Amorim, President of the FPAK, and Armando Vieira Marques, President of the FMP. It provided an opportunity to highlight the programme planned in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo regions from January 5 to 10, 2027. During this period, the regions will host the scrutineering, start ceremony, prologue and first stage of the Dakar, before the rally heads to Morocco. This decision is exceptional and one-off and was taken in close coordination with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), and with the support of the FIA and the FIM. What a week for the 2026 Dakar Saudi Next Gen Winners, Abdulaziz Al Saud and Meshal Al Shammari! 🇸🇦 The @MarocRallye was another major milestone on their road to Dakar 2027, more than 2,500 km of racing, tough terrain and valuable experience alongside some of the world’s best SSV drivers and factory teams. After running as high as P4 throughout the first four stages, the team faced a suspension issue on the final day, bringing the race to a close in P7 in their category. A strong week of racing, plenty of lessons learned and, most importantly, more experience in the bank as the countdown to Dakar 2027 continues 🏜️ Congratulations guys!
