âThis is the kind of film I made my career on and if a mid-level budget, star-driven movie canât seem to get people over the age of 25 years old to come out to theatres â if thatâs truly a dead zone â then thatâs not a good thing for movies. Whatâs gonna happen to the person behind me who wants to make this kind of film? I know for a fact, having talked to somebody who works at another studio, that the Monday after Black Bag opened, the conversation in the morning meeting was: âWhat does this mean when you canât get a movie like this to perform?â And thatâs frustrating. Everybody at Focus Features [the filmâs distributor] has assured me that ultimately Black Bag will be fine and will turn a profit, but the bottom line is that we need to figure out a way to cultivate this audience for movies that are in this mid-range, that arenât fantasy spectacles or low-budget horror movies. Theyâre movies for grown-ups, and those canât just go away.â

Have you ever played the game depicted in the 1961 film LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD? It is a two-player game, played with matchsticks, cards, or other objects.
Setup
Arrange 16 objects (e.g., matchsticks, cards, or similar items) in four rows with the following counts:
Row 1: 7 objects
Row 2: 5 objects
Row 3: 3 objects
Row 4: 1 object
Gameplay
Two players take turns removing objects.
On each turn, a player must:
Remove at least one object.
Remove any number of objects (e.g., 1, 2, or all) from only one row per turn.
Not take objects from multiple rows in a single turn.
Players alternate turns until no objects remain.
Objective
The game follows the misère condition: the player who removes the last object (leaving none on the board) loses.
The goal is to force your opponent to take the final object.
