It's dark when you leave for work. Dark when you get home. And somehow raining both times. 🌧️ Welcome to November in Delta! With shorter days and wet roads, we're asking everyone to pay a little extra attention out there. 🚗 Drivers: Slow down and keep an eye out for pedestrians, especially at intersections. 🚶 Pedestrians: Bright or reflective clothing helps you stand out, and it's always worth making sure drivers have seen you before crossing. We're all just trying to get where we're going safely. Let's look out for each other. #DeltaPolice #RoadSafety

Today, we pause to remember Staff Sergeant Ronald Edward McKay, who lost his life in the line of duty on November 2, 1974. For 17 years, S/Sgt. McKay served the Delta community with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. Beyond his service in uniform, S/Sgt. McKay was a devoted family man and active community member whose contributions extended well beyond his policing duties. More than five decades later, his legacy remains an important part of Delta Police's history. We will always remember his service and sacrifice. #DeltaPolice #InMemory #WeWillNeverForget

The Delta Police Department (DPD) has launched two new interactive crime dashboards, providing our community with greater access to local crime information and trends. Developed as part of DPD’s 2026 Annual Business Plan (ABP) in support of our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, these dashboards reflect our ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and keeping our community safe and informed. The dashboards offer two interactive ways to explore police-reported crime information across Delta, with measures in place to protect individual privacy: - Crime Mapping Dashboard: Provides a geographic view of selected reported crime occurrences, updated daily. Residents can filter by date, district, and offence type, with access to the previous 12 months of data. - Quarterly Crime Statistics Dashboard: Provides quarterly and year-to-date comparisons by offence type and district, allowing residents to explore how reported crime trends change over time. Updated quarterly. By making crime information more accessible and easier to understand, Delta Police remains dedicated to increasing our community's awareness and supporting informed crime prevention efforts. 🔗 Explore both dashboards on our website: deltapolice.ca/crime-dashboa… #DeltaPolice #ServiceThatLeads #CommitmentThatLasts #DeltaBC

Here are three recent examples: Proactive Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapon Seizure | File 26-17923 A traffic stop in the 8800 block of 120 Street led D Platoon members to discover a prohibited weapon in plain view. Officers arrested the occupants and searched the vehicle, seizing the weapon, more than 200 grams of illicit drugs and items consistent with drug trafficking. The investigation remains ongoing. Our team remains committed to proactive enforcement that disrupts criminal activity and addresses risks to community safety. Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Goods | File 26-18882 While conducting proactive patrols, C Platoon members stopped a suspicious U-Haul truck and determined that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. #NewsRelease: Delta Police Provide Update to Fatal Pedestrian Collision Delta, BC – The Delta Police Department continues to investigate the September 30, 2026 collision at Tsawwassen Mills under file 26-18401. Tragically, DPD has been advised that 64 year old Gwenyth Brigit DWYN, of South Delta, one of the two individuals who remained in hospital following the collision has died as a result of her injuries. This brings the number of people who have died as a result of the collision to three. One other individual who was initially taken to hospital has since been released and continues their recovery at home. Our thoughts remain with the victims families and loved ones, and with everyone affected by this tragedy. An incident of this magnitude requires a thorough and methodical investigation given the number of victims, numerous witnesses, and substantial volume of evidence including cellphone and other video evidence from multiple sources. Investigators have completed extensive scene and collision analysis and continue to examine all available evidence relevant to determining exactly what occurred. This work includes examining the movements of the involved vehicle on the Tsawwassen Mills property before the pedestrians were struck, including an earlier collision. Investigators have not reached any final conclusions regarding the cause of the collisions. The possibility that the driver experienced a medical event prior to the collisions remains under investigation. Based on the evidence reviewed to date, investigators have not identified evidence indicating that the collision was targeted or ideologically motivated. Investigators continue to gather and assess evidence to determine the full circumstances of this collision. If the evidence establishes criminality, any potential charges will be forwarded to Crown Counsel for assessment. “We understand that the community has questions and wants answers about what occurred,” says Staff Sergeant Mike Whiteley, Media Relations Officer. “Our responsibility is to ensure those answers are based on a complete and objective examination of the evidence. Investigators are working through a significant amount of information, and it is important that we not reach conclusions before that work is complete.” DPD continues to communicate with the affected families and with the Tsawwassen First Nation as the investigation progresses. We recognize the profound impact this tragedy has had on the community and remain committed to providing information when it can be shared without compromising the integrity of the investigation. Police are asking anyone who has not already spoken with investigators and who witnessed the incident or observed the involved vehicle on the Tsawwassen Mills property before the collision to contact the Delta Police Department at 604-946-4411 and reference file 26-18401.

Keeping Delta Safe Community Update – October 9, 2026 Across Delta, DPD officers continue to respond to calls, conduct proactive enforcement and work with partners to address risks that impact community safety. Here are three recent examples: Bait E-Scooter Deployment Leads to Arrest and Weapon Seizure | File 26-18537 DPD’s Patrol Support Team deployed a bait e-scooter as part of proactive property-crime enforcement. A man activated the e-scooter and began riding away before officers moved in to make an arrest. During the arrest, officers located an imitation firearm in a bag he was carrying. He was arrested for theft, breach of probation and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Targeted enforcement helps recover stolen property and address safety risks before they escalate. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Identifies 151 Violations During a recent impaired joint enforcement operation, officers conducted 33 commercial vehicle inspections, with 18 vehicles placed out of service. Inspectors identified 151 violations and issued 72 violation tickets. Two commercial drivers were also found using false log records. Additional enforcement resulted in seven impaired Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, one 24-hour driving prohibition and an excessive-speed vehicle impound. Proactive enforcement helps identify unsafe vehicles and driving behaviours before they put others at risk. Jewelry Store Robbery Suspect Arrested | File 26-16275 DPD officers responded to a reported robbery at a jewelry store on Scott Road. Police learned a man had asked to try on a necklace before jumping over the counter while holding what appeared to be a firearm. Store staff restrained him until officers arrived. The weapon was later determined to be an airsoft pistol. The suspect was arrested for robbery and was also found to be breaching his probation order. Swift action by store staff and responding officers helped bring the incident under control and prevent further risk. From proactive enforcement to emergency response and community partnerships, #DeltaPolice remains focused on the work that helps #KeepDeltaSafe.
