...a project can have a huge community and still have very few actual users.
What usually happens is that:
- People joining for points.
- People waiting for an airdrop.
- People typing "LFG" because it’s a task.
Don't get me wrong, nof that is bad. But let’s stop treating it as proof that people actually want the product.
The actually truth is that the rreal test starts when the rewards/promises stop.
- Do & will people still use it?
- Would anyone be willing to pay for it?
- Is there a reason to come back besides another campaign?
Incentives can bring people through the door. They can’t make a product useful.
Before you call yourself early, ask yourself: would I still be here if there was no token coming? 👀

This is exactly why many projects in web3 went to zero.
For most of them, their strategy was: gather thousands of users, get investors in, launch a token and exit.
Post launch, *crickets*.
You need to take it as seriously as you would a web2 business and actually work on getting REAL users. Not reward hunters.

... @FungoLabs just cancelled the Genesis auction and is refunding $84,150
Let that sink in 👇
- After 30,000+ WL applications
- Over 12,000+ people in the X campaign
- Over 3,000+ projects applying to the launchpad
And the total money that showed up was $84K 🤯
This is the uncomfortable truth about CT:
❌ Likes aren't liquidity
❌ WL applications aren't buyers
❌ LFG or gFungo doesn't pay for servers 😂
It was obvious everybody wanted the airdrop, but nobody wants to bid.
To be fair, they did the honourable thing:
✅ Full refunds to your wallet with no action needed
✅ No cutting the supply to force a launch
✅ + they said they'll keep building on Zama
But this should be a wake-up call for every project measuring hype by engagement numbers.
The entire TL is washed... shows how bearish we are rn.
After zkSNARKs absconded with over $16M on Zcash in similar ways, it might have been expected that people become more cautious with auctions like this...
An update on the Fungo Genesis auction:
We are issuing a total of $84,150 in refunds.
Today, we did not reach the level of participation we were aiming for, and rather than reduce the supply, we have decided not to complete the auction.
This is not an easy message to write. For months, we have put everything into building the infrastructure needed to make encrypted NFTs possible on Ethereum. But the level of participation we saw today was not enough for us to move forward with the sale as planned.
Throughout development, the Zama team provided technical support and helped us build the best system we could deliver today. This does not mean Zama stands behind or endorses our project. FungoLabs is an independent project building in the Zama ecosystem, and all decisions are our own.
The numbers we shared throughout this journey were real. More than 3,000 projects applied to our launchpad, over 12,000 people joined our X campaign, and we received more than 30,000 whitelist applications. We will share a separate breakdown of these numbers soon.
We also want to be transparent about one thing: projects like this cannot run on excitement alone. Infrastructure, servers, onchain activity, and the work of the team all come with real costs. Without enough support, carrying that load is simply not sustainable.
Any payments made by whitelist minters, along with the full amount of every bid, will be refunded. Refunds will be sent directly from the project treasury to your wallets. You do not need to take any action.
Thank you to everyone who gave us their time, believed in what we were building, and supported us throughout this journey. We are sorry we could not meet your expectations.

Detailed breakdown of $FUNGO tokenomics
$FUNGO has a fixed 10B supply with no investors, no presale and no tax.
- 36% of the total supply reserved for genesis NFT holders. Every NFT receives the same amount.
Each NFT receives 1.1M $FUNGO at TGE
7% supply is allocated to Zama OG holders. All holders receives equal allocation as well.
- 3% of the total supply is allocated to the X creators campaign. Users will have to create atleast 5 posts to qualify; leaderboard will be revealed at the end of the campaign.
- 10% supply is reserved for the team, fully locked for 12 months, then unlocks over 36 months.
- Liquidity: 34%, all at TGE, LP locked forever
Users will have 7 days to claim. Unclaimed tokens will be burned.
You can claim your tokens as regular $FUNGO, or as cFUNGO for privacy.
