Today, I met with the Zygi Fishers Association to discuss the key challenges facing small-scale fisheries in Cyprus, including increasing competition for marine space, climate change, invasive species and rising fuel costs.
I would also like to thank @ChristosSenekis, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus, for his engagement and continued dialogue on these important issues.🤝
Small-scale fishers are vital to our coastal communities, local economies and cultural heritage. Their voices and experience must be reflected in decisions shaping the future of our seas.
We remain committed to supporting resilient, sustainable fisheries and ensuring that coastal communities have a strong place in Europe's maritime future.🌊
