Safehub sensors recorded shaking within 80km of the epicentre. The ShakeNet trigger fired. Mexico's government received its payout. No physical damage survey. No claims file. Sensor data confirmed it, that was enough. Second ShakeNet payout in three months. The track record is forming fast. Etherisc's oracle-powered smart contracts run the same sensor-to-payout logic on Ethereum, for any seismic zone.

Has Ethereum lost its soul? Day 2 at @EFDevcon Mumbai. 🇮🇳 It pains me to say it, but the mood feels a bit disenchanted. You can see it in the half-empty rooms and in the hallway conversations. I've been to every Devcon since Cancún 2017. Back then, the narrative was about inclusion and empowering the weak. For those of us coming from emerging countries, it was a tool to circumvent bad institutions (and maybe build better ones bringing the rule of law where it was lacking.)! Many of us Argentines got into Ethereum because stablecoins were the way around capital controls. It wasn't an ideology. It was a survival tool. For people from advanced economies, it was a way to escape government and big tech surveillance. Then the narrative started drifting. DeFi yields, NFTs, memecoins... Each cycle brought more money and less talk about the common person. There are still talks on those original topics, but more and more the stage seems to reflect the worldview of Silicon Valley elites: transhumanism, longevity, life beyond biology. The contrast couldn't be sharper. Inside, conversations about transcending the human condition, governing societies through futarchy and handing DAO governance decisions over to AI. Outside, the chaos of Mumbai's streets, where millions hustle to survive and deal with very human problems every day. My impression from day 2 is that Ethereum is at a crossroads: solving the problems of nerds and Silicon Valley, or addressing the every day problems of real people. The real test isn't whether Ethereum scales, but for what and for whom. If it ends up as a playground for a tiny niche of insiders talking to each other, we can expect emptier conferences every year. Sorry for the pessimistic take. 🥲 Hoping day 3 finds me in better spirits!

CCRIF is paying Panama $17.4m after the M7.7 quake on Oct 9. That is payout number 83, and every one has landed inside 14 days. Etherisc lets the oracle trigger the contract the moment the data confirms.

The Bank of England warns climate risk could widen UK insurance gaps. When cover thins and premiums rise, a fixed payout on a clear trigger starts to look practical. Etherisc has run that model for Kenyan farmers for years.

Marsh Re warns the gap between secondary peril losses and reinsurance protection is growing. Hail, floods and storms keep landing on people with no cover. Etherisc pays on a data trigger, so smaller events still get paid.

Strong Q3 results. Higher nat cat losses globally. Munich Re still raised its full-year guidance. Why? Because disciplined underwriting, including parametric structures, lets Munich Re collect premium on risks others won't touch. Parametric's fast settlement reduces loss development tail risk, making reserving more predictable. Etherisc builds the decentralised version of this disciplined model, smart contracts execute on data, not discretion.

$80M to $190M. South Asia's first catastrophe bond. Signed October 15. The 2015 Gorkha earthquake killed 9,000 people. Traditional disaster finance took months. This bond means: next earthquake exceeds the threshold → funds release automatically. Etherisc builds the same trigger logic for any seismic zone. No World Bank mandate needed. Just a smart contract and an oracle.

PARIMA's Singapore Conference, nearly 500 attendees from across Asia-Pacific, closed 2026 under the theme “The New Risk Order." Parametric solutions for uninsured risks featured as a dedicated session. Asia-Pacific is the world's fastest-growing parametric region at 14.8% CAGR. Risk professionals there are moving from awareness to action. Etherisc's GIF is already borderless. No APAC office needed, just data and a wallet.

WFP secured $11.6M in cyclone parametric cover through CCRIF, confirmed October 23, 2026. When cyclone intensity crosses a defined threshold, WFP receives automatic payouts to fund food assistance before the crisis peaks. This is anticipatory finance at its purest: pre-arranged money, triggered by data, arriving before hunger does. Etherisc's smart contracts run the same logic; any humanitarian org can hold parametric cover on Ethereum, no CCRIF membership required.
