Introducing Decision Model Factory: Building Specialized Sovereign Decision Models We’re excited to share new research from Fujitsu Research by Yuma Ichikawa (@yuma_1_or), introducing Decision Model Factory, an approach for building specialized, sovereign decision models on demand. Decision needs vary with each application, language, and deployment environment. Decision Model Factory turns these varying needs into specialized models using a common workflow. When a language, task, or deployment constraint changes, the recipe changes, not the pipeline. The paper demonstrates five models and finds that specializationconsistently improves the Japanese Task Avg across all backbones. Three models also surpass the strongest results in a fixed public Japanese benchmark comparison. For serving efficiency, the decision runner achieved a 2.44× speedup for eight questions sharing the same state. The takeaway: Decision Model Factory and its decision runner make fast, task-specific decision models practical to build and deploy whenever needed. Read the paper: arxiv.org/pdf/2610.34956

New article in IEEE Access: Enhancing graph-based data management in the cloud 📣 Fujitsu Research of Europe’s platform that supports cloud-agnostic graph-based data management, features in a newly published article in leading journal IEEE Access (Volume 14, 17 September 2026). 💡 Fujitsu’s CAGDMS (Cloud-Agnostic Graph-Based Data Management System) is designed to address the challenges presented by increasing reliance on cloud-based data processing, particularly relating to vendor lock-in, workflow fragmentation and limited reproducibility. As a result, data teams frequently operate across disparate platforms, resulting in dataset duplication, script re-implementation, and inefficient collaboration. 🔎 CAGDMS unifies dataset management, script execution, and workflow orchestration across multiple cloud providers while maintaining comprehensive data lineage and provenance tracking. CAGDMS models datasets, scripts, and workflows as nodes and edges within a property graph, enabling fine-grained lineage tracking and reusable workflow composition. [OMAE 2026 Poster Presentation] Advancing AI-Powered Seaweed Recognition for Ocean Digital Twin We are pleased to share that our paper, "Sparse Point-Guided Fusion of Supervised and Self-Supervised Learning Model for Seaweed Segmentation," was presented at OMAE 2026 (45th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering) in Tokyo, Japan. As part of our Ocean Digital Twin initiative, we proposed a novel method that combines supervised and self-supervised learning to improve the segmentation of challenging underwater targets, particularly small seaweed species with limited training data. By leveraging Supervised and Self-Supervised Learning Model Propagation (SSL.Prop.) and MaskFusion (MF), our approach improved segmentation accuracy, achieving an mIoU of 0.531, compared with 0.449 for the baseline model. This technology supports more accurate quantification of seagrass and seaweed beds, contributing to blue carbon assessment, marine environmental monitoring, and the realization of Ocean Digital Twin. Introducing TechBlog OpenQARP Series #1: "Bringing Quantum Computing Closer to Practical Chemistry Problems: Calculating Molecular Properties in Solution at Room Temperature" Many important chemical reactions take place in solution, but incorporating solvent effects into quantum calculations remains challenging. In this TechBlog, Carlos Bistafa, Principal Researcher at the Fujitsu Research Quantum Laboratory, introduces ASEC-SSVQE, a hybrid quantum approach developed using OpenQARP. ASEC-SSVQE combines the Average Solvent Electrostatic Configuration (ASEC) model with the Subspace-Search Variational Quantum Eigensolver (SSVQE) algorithm to incorporate solvent effects into electronic transition calculations. This article is the first in a series showcasing quantum applications that can be developed using OpenQARP and highlighting the capabilities of our newly open-sourced package. The study demonstrates that the approach can successfully calculate electronic transition energies and spectral shifts of solvated molecules, achieving semiquantitative agreement with advanced classical calculations and experimental results. Fujitsu Research at COLM 2026 We're excited to share that Fujitsu Research presented "Persona Non Grata: Single-Method Safety Evaluation Is Incomplete for Persona-Imbued LLMs" at the Conference on Language Modeling (COLM) 2026 in San Francisco, October 6-9. Personas are widely used to shape how LLMs respond. They can be introduced through prompts or through activation steering, which changes a model’s internal representations. But does a persona that appears safe with one method remain safe with the other? Our paper finds that it may not. Across several LLM architectures, we find sharply different safety profiles. In one case, a seemingly prosocial persona was among the safest under prompting but reached an 81.8% attack success rate under activation steering. The takeaway: evaluating persona safety through prompting alone can miss vulnerabilities introduced by activation steering. Contributors: Wenkai Li, Fan Yang, Shaunak A. Mehta, and Koichi Onoue. Read the paper: openreview.net/pdf?id=dyKvBE… Our researchers would be glad to connect and discuss the work. #COLM2026 @COLM_conf #FujitsuResearch #LanguageModels #AISafety
