🎥 Georgia Hornet Files, Episode 3: Go on-site with the Plant Protection team and learn about YLH nest-building behavior.
Yellow-Legged Hornets actively work to build secondary nests from August to October. Now, entering cooler months, the nests will be at their final size as the hornets begin to reproduce.
Be on the lookout for large secondary nests like the one shown here, both high in trees or other structures and lower to the ground.
If you spot a suspected Yellow-Legged Hornet nest, report it immediately using this form: bit.ly/YLHReport
Your report can help our team respond quickly, protecting Georgia’s agriculture and pollinators.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture team attended the 7th Annual Georgia Food Industry Summit yesterday!
It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with food safety professionals from industry, government, and academia to share knowledge, discuss emerging food safety challenges, hear regulatory updates, and strengthen partnerships across Georgia’s food industry. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's summit a success!
Each year, @GovKemp recognizes the @GeorgiaDOAS Fleet Team and the dedicated professionals who keep state agencies moving behind the scenes.
This year, our very own Erica Payne was among a select group of State Agency Fleet Administrators invited. Erica was also recognized by Jazzmin Randall, Director of Fleet Management for DOAS, for her extensive knowledge and expertise, sharing that she often refers others to Erica when she doesn't have the answer.
We are proud to see Erica's hard work and dedication representing the Georgia Department of Agriculture! Congratulations, Erica!

Georgia’s beekeepers are on the front lines of our fight against the Yellow-legged Hornet.
With recent detections in South Carolina and North Carolina, I’m encouraging beekeepers across our state to remain vigilant, monitor hives for hawking activity, and report any suspected YLH immediately.
Early detection and rapid response are critical to protecting our honey bees and Georgia agriculture.
