Senator Jerry Moran

I have long supported voter ID requirements for federal elections, which is why I cosponsored the SAVE Act to make certain only U.S. citizens are voting in federal elections.

I always go home on election day to remind myself where I come from.

Wallace County was the final stop on my 2026 tour of all 105 Kansas counties, and I appreciated a warm welcome from the folks in Sharon Springs. While in western Kansas, I also met with residents in Syracuse, Tribune and Johnson City. From the Farmers Union Agency in Hamilton County to the Wholly Cow Café in Stanton County to the hospital in Greeley County, these conversations with Kansans – hearing their ideas, challenges, successes and concerns – help inform my work in Washington. I am grateful for the hospitality extended to me by small businesses, rural hospitals and health centers, civic organizations, veterans’ groups, schools and farms all across Kansas’ 105 counties. I always came away from our discussions with a better understanding of the needs of our state.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the extraordinary individuals with Down syndrome and the special joy and blessings they bring to our communities. As the co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Down Syndrome, I remain committed to advancing research, strengthening advocacy and improving the quality of life for people with Down syndrome.

When disaster strikes, Kansas first responders answer the call, protecting our communities and helping neighbors in times of need. Thank you for your courage, dedication and unwavering service to our state. #FirstRespondersDay

Since my BOTS Act became law, the @FTC has opened several federal cases to prosecute scammers using bots to scalp tickets, but there is still more to do. As tactics become more sophisticated, I will continue working to combat these scams & protect consumers. fox4kc.com/news/bots-prevent…

This new agreement between @NASA and @USDA will help put America’s investments in space, science and technology to work for agriculture producers. Partnering NASA satellites and forecasting systems with USDA’s agricultural expertise will give producers better information while strengthening American agricultural competitiveness. As chairman of the subcommittee that funds NASA, I have worked closely with Administrator Isaacman to make certain NASA’s Earth Science capabilities deliver practical benefits for American agriculture. I am pleased to see NASA and USDA taking this step.

More than 3,000 Kansans died from drug overdoses between 2020-2024, nearly half from fentanyl. This #RedRibbonWeek, I encourage you to learn more about drug prevention & share this information with loved ones. You never know when it could save a life. moran.senate.gov/public/inde…

Game time! Great to be in Allen Fieldhouse to cheer on the Jayhawks. #RockChalk

Spirit Defense is continuing Wichita’s long history of defense manufacturing, and today we cut the ribbon on its newly renovated production facility. This new facility will support the assembly of the Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program, bringing more jobs to Kansas and delivering cutting-edge aircraft for our military.   As demands on our defense industrial base increase, I remain committed to supporting Spirit Defense and its workforce, making certain they have the resources needed to grow and drive the next generation of defense technology for our nation. Thank you to CEO Keith Scrader and the entire Spirit Defense team for their critical work and ongoing investment in Kansas. A special thank you to U.S. Representative Ron Estes, Wichita Mayor Lily Wu, Kansas House Speaker Pro Tem Blake Carpenter, State Representatives Sandy Pickert and Leah Howell, State Senators Oletha Faust-Goudeau and Rick Billinger, Sedgwick County Commission Chair Jeff Blubaugh and Commissioners Jim Howell, Pete Meitzner and Stephanie Wise for joining us.

Drug overdoses are a leading cause of death in our nation, and #RedRibbonWeek provides the opportunity to educate on the risk of illicit drugs, support prevention efforts and recognize the law enforcement officers who work every day to keep us safe. I led a resolution with @RepMcDowell, @SenWhiteHouse and @JohnCornyn recognizing Red Ribbon Week and emphasizing the importance of fighting illicit drugs in our country. Make a difference. Be a hero. Stay drug free.

Great to be in Ashland today and connect with members of the community. I stopped by the Clark County Courthouse, Stockgrowers State Bank, Bank of Ashland, the local senior center and several businesses. Thank you to everyone for the conversations.

I’m in Alaska yesterday and today visiting Fort Greely, the Missile Defense Complex and meeting with servicemembers. As a senior defense appropriator, I’m here to learn more about our Defense Missile System and the Golden Dome.   I will continue working to strengthen our missile defense and support opportunities for Kansas to play a role in advancing that mission.

Saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life in Wichita today at a local sporting event. I’m grateful to the first responders who quickly responded and everyone who jumped into action to help save lives. While the investigation is ongoing, the Wichita Police Department has requested help from witnesses who might have video to aid in their investigation.
