Tribute Tuesday
Brayden Lemmon
September 6, 2002- August 24, 2023
August 24th began as a normal day. After work, Brayden came home for what would unknowingly be his last supper. He had bought a BBQ for our family and was so proud of it but never got to use it. That evening, he went out with friends and tragically got into a vehicle with an impaired driver. Not wearing a seatbelt, he was ejected during the crash and lost his life alongside his close friend, Victoria Cousins.
Brayden was a twin, brother, son, grandson, nephew, and friend. He was deeply loved, especially by his Nanny. His loss has left an emptiness words cannot describe. He loved cars, snowboarding, soccer, friends, family, bonfires, beaches, BBQing, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, camping, and working on anything with wheels and a motor. He was a jokester with a big personality, a bright smile, and a contagious laugh. Most of all, Brayden was kind, outgoing, and would do anything for anyone. He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
He was supposed to grow old, make more memories, experience more adventures, and watch the people he loved grow up. He had plans to go work out west at a ski hill the following winter. He never got to meet his niece, Bray-Lynn. She should have experienced the kind of love that we know he would have had for her. There should have been more to time. He will never have the chance to get married, have children or build a life his own. He wasn’t just a statistic- he was a person with dreams, hobbies, love, and a future.
We want Brayden to be remembered for his laugh, his personality, and the memories he gave us. We want his story to serve as a reminder: Don’t drive impaired. Don’t get into a vehicle with someone who is impaired. Find another way home. Call someone you trust. Plan ahead. No family should have to experience the pain of losing someone because of an impaired driving decision. As a family, we are left with memories, photographs, stories, and a lifetime of missing him.
Brayden, you were loved then, you are loved now. You will be loved for the rest of our lives. You will always be a part of our family. We will carry you with us, always.
Thank you, SADD, for inviting MADD Canada and Brandon Radhay, our School Program representative, to present our latest School Program to SADD conference attendees.
We appreciate the work that SADD does in their communities and schools across Saskatchewan to create a world free from impaired driving.
Together, MADD Canada and SADD we are saving lives.
This year #ProjectRedRibbon honours Suparna and Suranjan Das, beloved parents, grandparents and pillars of the Bangladeshi community who were killed in an alcohol-related crash while on vacation on August 5, 2022. For the first time, campaign materials will be available in Bengali, alongside English and French, helping extend the campaign’s message to more communities. As we organize festive holiday gatherings this season, make sure that a sober ride is always part of the plan!
Be sure to plan ahead tonight for a sober ride. Halloween should be fun scary, not life changing scary. We wish you all a Happy Halloween! 👻🎃🧟🐈⬛💀
#ProjectRedRibbon returns for its 39th year to promote sober driving during the holiday season, when social gatherings and celebrations can increase the risk of impaired driving. Launched ahead of the holiday season, the campaign encourages Canadians to plan ahead, choose a sober ride and help keep roads safe.
