When a car goes 25 mph nobody cares. That’s what it was designed to do.
When a human being runs 25 mph, it’s an accomplishment because a HUMAN BEING achieved it.
Nobody gives a shit if a machine spits out the code, art, and animations and creates a game. The reason games are successful comes from people experiencing the developer’s own vision. It’s not just about the product and the profit, it’s about seeing people’s ideas come to life through their own work.
Here’s a hard-to-swallow pill for people who support AI: Having dreams and ideas is not actually impressive, everybody has them. It’s putting in the effort yourself to make them happen that makes it impressive, and if you think people will still appreciate that when you used an AI to do the hard work for you then you clearly don’t know what it means to truly create.
Hiding that you used AI means taking credit for work you didn’t do. AI isnt a tool you use on your own, it’s an intelligence trained using other peoples work without their permission. It does the work for you.
If you’re proud to use it why hide it? Unless you really do just want credit for something you didn’t make.

I don’t think any argument in favor of AI can be taken seriously here when the company in question is using it to pick up the slack after firing thousands of employees.
This is exactly why people SHOULD be worried about AI. Epic just used it to replace a thousand people’s jobs.

If creators use it to replace the work of artists and lie about it to protect their reputation I wouldn’t say that it discredits the concerns people have with AI. I’m pretty sure the reason they gave for using it; “programming is hard” implies that they’re using it to pick up the slack after losing so many integral employees from the layoffs. Not only is there plenty of legitimate reasons people have to be anti-AI, but it’s almost dystopian that it’s essentially being used to replace those employees. That in itself is what makes it so wrong here regardless if you think it’s useful as a tool or not.
