Tomorrow, @AndyBurnham and Britain's political establishment will gather at the Cenotaph to honour those who sacrificed their lives in war.
Wreaths will be laid. Heads will be bowed. Solemn promises will be made.
LEST WE FORGET. NEVER AGAIN.
Yet while our leaders commemorate the atrocities of the past, Gaza lies in ruins, its people devastated by a genocide that has shocked the conscience of humanity.
And our government is entitely complicit.
We continue to arm and enable Israel, provide political cover for its actions, and condemn or smear those who dare to call out those crimes.
Those demanding accountability are branded antisemites. Those defending international law are treated as the problem. And those responsible for the suffering continue to evade justice.
The sheer hypocrisy of standing in solemn remembrance of yesterday's atrocities while enabling and excusing those of today should shame our entire political establishment.
To be clear, this is not an attack on remembrance. It's a demand that remembrance actually MEANS something.
Our fallen deserve more than wreaths, speeches and two minutes of silence.
They deserve leaders who uphold the very principles they claim those sacrifices were made to defend.
We owe the dead our remembrance. We owe the living our humanity. And we owe the victims of Gaza the truth.
The petition demanding a full independent public inquiry into Britain's role in Gaza has reached over 90,000 signatures.
Just 10,000 more will take it to the threshold for consideration for a parliamentary debate.
Let's get this done tomorrow. For Gaza. For humanity. For the principles we claim to uphold.
