Hello Captain,
Please write a book on hunger and economic quagmire in karamoja too,
Maybe by that, the government will invest more in making sure that region comes to the glory it truly deserves.
@mukulaa
I extend my profound gratitude to @KagutaMuseveni - H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his excellent and insightful foreword to my book, The Historical Disarmament of Karamoja, and for his unwavering leadership in restoring peace, security and stability to the region.
The historic motion I moved in Uganda’s 6th Parliament, supported by several honourable colleagues, helped lay the foundation for Karamoja’s transformation.
Once confronted by widespread insecurity and an estimated 60,000–80,000 firearms, Karamoja is progressively transitioning from conflict and cattle rustling towards peace, investment and socioeconomic development.
Today, its vast mineral wealth and other natural resources offer enormous potential to transform the region into a major industrial and economic hub of Uganda.
Disarmament was not merely about removing guns; it was about creating the foundations for peace, production, industrialisation and prosperity.
I salute President Museveni for his strategic vision, political courage and enduring commitment to Karamoja’s transformation.
From guns to growth. From insecurity to investment. From conflict to prosperity.

UPDATE: Tensions are mounting across the Teso sub-region after former Works minster Musa Ecweru, a senior commander of the auxiliary vigilante force known as the "Arrow Boys," issued a public ultimatum demanding that retired former Deputy Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, surrender to recognised authorities or face a coordinated hunt.

I thank Hon.Musa Ecweru for his very firm statement in the media against anyone fomenting trouble in Teso. Especially, Private Elweru. I completely support his position.

In our continuing operation to dismantle Private Elweru's treachery and criminality. We have seized more guns and ammunition he had stashed away in different places. We have also arrested his driver and seized the last vehicle he was using. Anyone who aids this fugitive in any way will face serious consequences. Otherwise, I thank all our supporters in Teso for all the information they are giving us.

Congratulations, Your Excellency President William Samoei Ruto @WilliamsRuto. In my assessment, your vision, resolve and determination to transform Kenya place you among the world’s top five presidents today. Re-engineering a nation takes courage, sustained focus and a willingness to make difficult decisions. My confidence in your leadership rests on your commitment to housing, healthcare, agriculture and expanding opportunities for Kenyans.
The ultimate measure of transformation is a better life for our people. That is the promise we must continue working together to fulfil. Transformational leadership. Focused delivery. Service beyond self. May God grant you wisdom and strength as you serve Kenya.
For decades, armed cattle raids by Karamoja’s Karacuna (armed warriors) inflicted devastating suffering across Acholi, Lango, Teso, Bugisu and Sebei, extending into neighbouring Kenya. Interethnic raids within Karamoja itself fuelled cycles of revenge, bloodshed and displacement.
Thousands of families lost loved ones, livestock, homes and livelihoods. Agricultural production declined, trade was disrupted, communities were impoverished, and enormous economic opportunities were lost.
The human and economic costs transcended ethnic and national boundaries.
This painful history informed the motion I moved in Uganda’s 6th Parliament calling for the disarmament of Karamoja.
Disarmament was never simply about recovering guns. It was about saving lives, ending cycles of violence, restoring dignity and laying the foundations for lasting peace, reconciliation and socioeconomic transformation.
From cattle raids to commerce. From conflict to cooperation. From insecurity to prosperity….we are documenting our history.
