Scot Govt Minister for Europe, Stephen Gethins, who has been sanctioned by Russia for his activities against Putin, has doubled down on John Swinney’s comments @LBC l @LBCNewsScot
Luke Pollard, UKG minister for defence readiness and industry, was at Navantia in Methil this morning meeting shipyard apprentices - but he accused the SNP of “doing Putin’s dirty work” when asked about John Swinney’s claim that Scottish waters are “dangerously exposed” @LBC

Pleasure to be on @GMB talking about my book, Under Fire. Although the story is very personal about what our family went through while my in-laws were in Gaza, what of the 2m Palestinians still suffering 3 years into a genocide. And why one earth has the world not stopped it?

My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the two people who have tragically lost their lives as a result of Storm Boelo. My thoughts are with all those affected by the damage, and I thank the emergency services working through the night to keep people safe.

As the local councillor for Maryhill, I was out in my ward this morning responding to damage and disruption caused by the stormy weather. I personally cleared more than 30 drains and reopened three roads to traffic: 📍 Kelvindale Road 📍 Shuskin Drive 📍 Arrochar Road, in front of John Paul Academy I also removed fallen trees and branches from pavements and roads to help keep routes clear for residents. I am also aware of flooding at the end of Maryhill Road, which has made it almost impassable. This has been reported, and I hope it will be addressed as soon as possible. Please take care, check conditions before travelling, and follow official advice throughout the weekend. Stay safe and look out for one another. #Maryhill #CommunitySafety

I have received the first official estimate of the cost to Scotland's pensioners of the Prime Minister's attack on the triple lock. It will take up to £4bn from Scotland's pensioners. And the Prime Minister plans to use it to pay for social care in England.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The £4bn is a Scottish Government projection for lower state pension payments in Scotland by 2049-50 vs the current triple lock. The state pension is UK-wide. Increased English social care spending would bring additional Barnett formula funding to Scotland. gov.scot/publications/d… heraldscotland.com/news/26595468.… instituteforgovernment.org.uk/article/explai…

The Women’s Aid network in Scotland has been one of our most consequential movements in addressing a malevolent scourge in society - violence against women & girls. While we wish their services were not necessary I’m proud to have been part of their 50th Anniversary conference
We were pleased to be joined by Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Justice, at our Members' Conference in Stirling this morning. In his keynote address, he spoke about improving access to justice for women experiencing domestic abuse and highlighted the incredible work of our local, specialist, Women's Aid services for how they support women, children and young people. ''As I thought about this event today, I was struck by how many thousands of women the Scottish Women's Aid network must have helped over the last fifty years. The women you have advised and helped to stay safe. The women you have advised and helped to provide refuge. The women you have guided through the justice system. The women you have supported to rebuild their lives - the women whose lives you have literally saved.''

The Scottish Parliament has overwhelmingly voted to back Scotland's right to decide our future. Now it's time to turn that right into reality and ensure that people in Scotland can make their voices heard in a referendum. Westminster must not stand in the way of democracy.
