🍂 Leaves might look harmless, but they can cause problems for trains when they're crushed onto the rails.
That's why our autumn operation is in full swing, with specialist trains treating more than 80,000 miles of track across Scotland.

📸 Our Edinburgh-based engineers have completed a three-year vegetation inspection cycle in just two months.
It’s been done with a new digital tool using footage captured from trains, allowing engineers to spot issues sooner, helping keep trains on time.

👀 By using footage from cameras fitted to inspection trains, our Edinburgh maintenance team have carried out a vegetation inspection cycle in just 2 months, compared to the 3 years it’d take if done by walking the tracks.

Following the fire alarm sounding at Edinburgh Waverley earlier, services are returning to normal. Thanks for your patience if your journey’s been delayed this morning.

We have a response team en route to Hairmyres where the emergency services are dealing with an incident.
@ScotRail’s Glasgow Central - East Kilbride services will terminate and start back from Busby for now. We’ll share a further update soon.

🚅 Trains are faster and quieter than you think. One wrong step can mean life-changing injuries or worse.

On Monday night, our 2015s kicked off a special 5-week railway campaign in partnership with Network Rail
Each week, the boys will learn an important message about the dangers of the railway and how to stay safe.
Week 1: Overhead Power Lines
Did you know that overhead power lines carry 25,000 volts of electricity and are never switched off? That's 100 times greater than the power supply in your house⚡️
It is a really important message for our boys to understand - always stay away from the railway lines and overhead power lines.
A big thank you to Network Rail for helping us share these vital safety messages with our young players.

🛤️ We've received a report of a track defect near Bishopbriggs on the Edinburgh-Glasgow main line.
We've put a speed restriction in place for trains heading towards Glasgow until our team arrives on site to inspect the problem. We'll share another update soon. @ScotRail
Good news. Our engineers have confirmed all is OK, and @ScotRail services are returning to normal between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street high-level.
🛠️ Next week, we kick off a £3m project to replace an ageing bridge over the Dundee to Aberdeen line at Laurencekirk.
It’s been great working with the community and have used their feedback, particularly on diversionary routes, when planning the work. 🤝

We're on site at Stromeferry, where a road traffic collision next to the railway has meant we've had to close the Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh line.
This is to allow the safe recovery of a vehicle. We're working with the emergency services to do this ASAP.

🛠️ We’re set to carry out £9m of upgrades and repairs on the Kyle of Lochalsh line and at Inverness station, with the railway closing between Dingwall and Kyle of Lochalsh for three weeks between 28 Nov and 18 December.

1️⃣Session 1
Our 2019s are taking part in the @NetworkRailSCOT campaign, learning about rail safety ⚠️
We learned that overhead power lines carry 25,000 volts, and they are never switched off⚡️
We even seen the fire brigade making lines safe during the recent storm damage 💨🚒
⚡️ We’ve been dealing with a loss of power to the overhead wires between Coatdyke and Airdrie this morning.
Our engineers are en route, and we’ve identified a fault on a train that could possibly be causing a problem. We’re working with @ScotRail to manage affected services.
⏱️ We're in the final hours of our 18-day programme of closures across Fife, which has seen us make huge progress on our £311m @ScotGov-funded Fife Electrification programme. ⚡
Normal service returns tomorrow, Wed, 28 October. Here's Mhairi with more.
@transcotland @ScotRail
⚡ Overhead wires on the railway carry high-voltage electricity powerful enough to cause catastrophic injuries, horrific. burns or worse.
Never take shortcuts across the tracks. #NoSecondChances
