The next academic year brings a huge amount of change for schools to manage and implement.
Is your school ready?
@jasminenorden has all the details here: tes.com/magazine/analysis/ge…
(A fantastic timeline from our art director Nige, too!)
I regularly explain this. If it were criterion rather than norm ref’d then it would be (theoretically) possible to have more people above a prescribed standard. Standardisation of that point is difficult. Will it be easier in the future to do it? Perhaps.

I’ll be offering my ONE whole day of FREE CPD again this year.
However, you now don’t need to be rural or coastal school. (It is preferable!) But you’ll still need to have above national average FSM and SEND needs.
Like/RT share/post etc!

We never forget the ones who believed in us!
Not because they changed the world,
But because they changed ours.
Teachers. Leaders. Coaches.
The real power? They made us believe too.

Fab blog - will be borrowing some of this. I always have wellbeing as the first agenda point (although sometimes it requires a bit of warming up to get to the bottom of this bit. The 2nd and 3rd sections are what went well this week and what are the priorities for next week.

My hot take on the Ofsted stuff is that, if you had a well-funded system with lots of extra people, it would help drive school improvement (and *could* reduce stress).
As the system currently stands: I’m concerned it’ll drown people in workload.
Looking forward to being on the panel for this on Thursday 🙂

Excellent blog.
Simply doing ‘the thing’ isn’t the same as it being done well. Excellent teaching isn’t a tick list - it’s an art that requires feel, being responsive and use of judgement. It incorporates lots of ‘things’. Crucially, and without doubt….thinking 🙂
*New post*
I haven’t blogged for a while. This is the first of 2025, and is on school improvement.
