Did the BJP get inspired by our @rti404 project poster design from days ago (see below)? Will it also be inspired by the project to change its colours and corrects its attitude towards transparency, accountability and the RTI Law? To read more on that go to rti404.com
At RTI404, we have been screaming about RTIs going unanswered. And now with SIR even our Election Commissioners have been kept in the dark by their Chief. Our suggestion: ECs can file their questions through RTI & in case of a denial visit us at rti404.com

We at The Reporters Collective @reporters_co, a tiny non-profit newsroom, stood up to defend journalism against govt attempt to paralyse the profession through a Trojan horse in the Privacy law. We filed a case before the Supreme Court in February 2026 and launched rti404.com, a watchdog project to protect RTI and journalism, both. Months later the for- profit big media businesses have realised, not just journalism but revenue of their media business would be hurt too by what the govt is doing. We are glad they have eventually seen value in joining us. Read Our Statement from February 16, 2026. 👇 reporters-collective.in/blog…
EXCLUSIVE: India’s biggest news publishers including Ambani's Network18, Adani's NDTV, Indian Express, Times Internet & others mount the most high-profile challenge yet to Modi’s privacy law, warning it would “render investigative journalism a benign and neutered recorder of events.” DNPA (@publishers_news) has taken the law to the Supreme Court. They argue it would trample investigative work and let New Delhi identify journalists’ sources. The provisions “constitute pre-censorship which is anathema to any democracy worth its name,” the group’s 698-page filing says. The key concerns: 🔹 Consent: requiring a journalist to notify the subject of an investigation and seek consent “would allow that subject to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses” 🔹 Erasure: people can withdraw consent and demand their data be erased, which the group says could force publishers to unpublish or heavily redact news reports 🔹 Sources: a “nakedly unguided” power to demand information that “can extend to privileged communications in possession of a reporter or the informant” In a letter to the government, the group said India “has chosen to grant broad exemptions to the state, while failing to extend any corresponding protection to the press.” reuters.com/business/media-t…

Militarising the lives and lands of our people. It's hubris of the State and it's poweful elements including those in power in the state to believe this will subjugate the will of the people to their profits.
State police says 30 companies of CAPF alongside state & paramilitary forces (15 CRPF incl. 4 RAF, 8 ITBP, 4 SSB, 3 Assam Police Bn), Arunachal police & IRBn jawans are stationed across East Siang, Siang & Upper Siang districts. That’s around 3000 armed personnel put together. All this to crush the indigenous people’s movement against a forceful move of the Centre to build an 11,000 MW hydropower project named the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project to counter China’s dam building in upstream Tsangpo in occupied Tibet. How is this justified? They keep saying "national security." What about the indigenous people who guard the Indian state in Arunachal? Are we invisible and insignificant, not worth seeking consent from?

UP voter rolls-Another FIR lodged: this in Sultanpur under cognizable offences (cheating, forgery) over a "conspiracy" in which forms to delete votes of 26 people were submitted through docs bearing the forged sign of one Nand Lal. SP had alleged PDA names were being deleted

Indian Express's big HL from today is about NHPC's "PR push" over the proposed Siang dam — a story @Bengiaajum broke nearly a week ago: shorturl.at/caB24 Good journalism requires we credit — a newspaper giant can afford to, esp. when it's building on work by NE reporters.

Arrest of these young activists is deeply concerning. Also CM Pema Khandu says the door is open for dialogue, but anti-dam activists continue to get arrested. This mix messaging is confusing everyone. How will people trust the government? @tongamrina @nit_set @TanushreePande

Look at the sheer number of armed personnel that have descended upon Pasighat, which saw a night of violence, vandalism, and the looting of the homes of elected representatives from Friday night to Saturday. This followed a Gen Z protest against militarisation and the arrest of villagers protesting against the Siang upper multipurpose project. The flights bringing in Rapid Action Forces stopped just a short while ago. This is state-sponsored violence and provocation.

Replying to @TADAK_NALO
@TADAK_NALO’s FB page is restricted. It is easy to guess why. He is popular with the youth and raises relevant issues, the most recent being his questioning of the govt regarding Chinese intrusions into Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh and the crackdown on the indigenous resistance against Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.

When a news organisation suggests Indian citizens don't have the right to the truth from its govt. About territorial integrity. From a govt thay boasts much on the front.
I am aghast at this so called editorial. This is terrible.

Watch this. It was a peaceful dharna against Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. Police said that to disperse the Pasighat Gen Z protesters “ mild force” was used. Is this your mild force? @PemaKhanduBJP @NatungMama @DgpPradesh explain this to the people.

Tajong Talom, one of the prominent faces of the Pasighat #GenZmovement against the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (#SUMP), was reportedly detained by the #AssamPolice in Sivasagar, Assam, last night. Talom stated that he was intercepted while on his way to #Delhi to address a press conference regarding the ongoing mega-dam issue. A family member mentioned that he was subsequently handed over to the #ArunachalPradeshPolice, but they remain unaware of his exact current location.

Otul Jerang is a young schoolteacher. Polite, soft-spoken, he speaks straight from his heart about his people and the Siang River. I first heard him speak during a rally in Pasighat against the Upper Siang Multipurpose Project—a project that will affect his own village. He is currently in police custody after the GenZ protest took a violent turn in Pasighat. Please do listen to him explain why he chose to surrender to the police.
