A breakthrough in research should reach beyond the language in which it is written. At the 29th International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD-2026), IIT Delhi, BHASHINI demonstrated how multilingual AI could help bridge language gaps in academic and scientific research. Its capabilities, including document translation, OCR, transliteration and speech technologies, offer opportunities to make complex scholarly content more accessible while preserving specialised terminology, document structure and meaning. The session also explored potential collaboration with research repositories such as Shodhganga, universities and academic institutions to adapt translation workflows to their needs, supported by human validation and quality assurance.
