NEW - In Iowa, cancer upended the midterms.
An Iowa GOP strategist called it a "liability" for the party that's held one-party control for a decade.
In '26, $20M+ spent on ads mentioning cancer. In '22, it was less than $200K.

This is a fantastic @ec_schneider story about a hyper local issue that could decide the Senate and House majorities, and it’s not war, gas prices or housing.
Great reporting.

Some smart @merica here on a possible anti-authoritarian trend: From Serbia to Brazil to Israel, strongmen right-wingers suffered losses at polls recently.
Just ahead of Tuesday's midterms here.

The 2023 speaker fight showed us what Congress looks like when C-SPAN runs the cameras.

If he could change one thing about Congress, what would it be? @cspan CEO @SamFeistDC says it’s access for C-SPAN’s cameras on the House floor.

The final days of campaigning in Ohio have become consumed with two things: the ad and the ass.
No one can stop talking about Ramaswamy's ad featuring Amy Acton's estranged mother. His support has cratered since it went public. Multiple internal polls showing a mid- to high single-digit deficit (was a margin of error race).
Per the internals, Husted's support has been relatively unaffected, but there's a fear it could ultimately drag him down. Still margin of error there.
They also can't stop talking about Husted's rear end. As Bernie Moreno put it:
“I was meeting with the president on Saturday and literally my Uber driver asked me where I’m from. I said Ohio, and he said, ‘Oh, is that the senator that the president commented on his ass?' I was like, 'Oh my god.'"

Such a great profile of @CookPolitical but also amazing anecdotes about @amyewalter (how did we both age like this?) and @CarrieNBCNews and so many others.

Even the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee prepared for 2028 this year. The committee sent memos to more than a dozen potential presidential candidates, hoping to direct them to districts aligned with their electoral strengths, according to two people directly familiar with the advice.

Given how much Paxton/Rs have tried to imply things about Talarico’s personal life, it’s a tough posture to now say Paxton’s personal life is off limits. Good NYT story here about the woman influencer behind the Paxton scenes.

Interesting to see @RepHudsonNC campaigning for @lawler4ny as his district 550~ miles away is now (sorta?) competitive.
Last time an NRCC or DCCC chair lost their own race was … right there in Hudson Valley 4 years ago when Lawler beat @SeanPMaloney !
I had fun yesterday with @ChrisStirewalt on his Sunday show & we geeked out over measuring "the wave". Sorry for so much math, but people need to calm down.
A +15 Dem night matches 1994/Newt "revolution" & +20 matches Pelosi/2018.
(Sorry for math.)

Evangelical organizers worry that the Republican Party's campaigning has overlooked conservative Christians.
Lack of an authentic message + disappointment with admin's abortion policies has some concerned it'll affect turnout.
