Got my first few paying subscribers, not too far off hitting 700 total subscribers too, I've only been on substack for a week:

Good luck Instagram on trying to make a dent in that without paying creators on platform!
Every Friday night we have a few friends around and I cook up a storm. I'm just starting on tonight's dinner:
Red Wine Braised Beef Cheeks with a black garlic jus, beetroot and horseradish purée, fondant potatoes, honey-thyme glazed baby carrots and a light red onion & shallot pickle.
I may swap out the carrots for some of the asparagus from our garden.
Some of the ingredients are from our garden, others from the farms immediately around us :)
I'm finding it a little more difficult getting around the kitchen today with one of my legs not really functioning properly.
I broke my back in two places quite some time ago, was told I'd never walk again... spent some time in a wheelchair while I was figuring out and learning how to walk again.
Since then I've hiked on every continent except North America (working on it), scuba dived, snorkelled, and free dived all over the world... including Antarctica.
I have a fairly constant fear in the back of my mind that I'll do something and lose my ability to walk again. This week has brought those fears back to the forefront... but I'll never let that stop me.
Managed to re-injure my back... having some super weird symptoms now. Next available appointment with my usual GPs - mid-December. Joy.
If you're a substack user, I'm moving most of my regular content posting there. I'll be writing about creativity, photography, travel, my adventures and mishaps, and maybe a few other rabbit holes. I will also put most of my travel writing on there, with full photo essays! You can check it out here:

A pair of the rainbow bee eaters that have been hanging around the house lately... there were over a dozen of them at one point!
Busselton Jetty from above...
I have let one of my major clients go this week, they were loads of fun to work with, but just didn't have the budget for it to be sustainable for my business. Always a tough decision.
Now I suddenly have some major openings in my calendar for the next year... looking forward to finding some new clients to work with and reaching out to old clients that I wasn't able to fit in this year.
I'm nearing the end of my working year... I don't usually have much work in November, December, or January, which is always a bit of a challenge... This year I feel like like I'm running on fumes, I'm absolutely exhausted, I've been working around the clock and it feels like I've achieved nothing for it all.
I've got a few things in the works, but the next few weeks will be about a major reset, hitting the gym, and working out a plan forward for next year.
I try my best to not interfere or disturb wildlife when I'm photographing it... I moved on when this dingo mum gave me a glare. I was quite some distance away, shooting with my longest lens (600mm plus a 1.5x teleconverter), but she was clearly wary of my presence.
24 years ago I was told that I would never walk again... I had broken my back at L1 & T12.
Since then I have walked on every continent in the world except North America, every state & territory and many of the islands of Australia, plus... Antarctica.
I took this photo at sunrise that day, and made my mind up that I'd figure out a way to take photos full time... it is a terrible photo and it took me quite some time to go full time, but I've done that for the last 17 years now!
