They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.

It’s #PoppySaturday!
Our collectors are out across Scotland today, raising vital funds for the #ScottishPoppyAppeal. Grab your poppy and donate – cash, QR code or contactless at selected locations. Thank you, volunteers! Send us your photos!
Two days. That’s how long Sylvia Ibie had before she and her 16-year-old daughter faced homelessness. Sylvia is an Iraq war veteran, a former RAF reservist radiographer, a special constable and a chaplain. (1)
With an address, Sylvia could return to work as an advanced specialist radiographer. “To be granted such help from Poppyscotland and the Homeless Veterans Project was life changing. They are our very own angels.”

For eight years, Reverend Peter Meagre cared for his wife Christine on his own after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. By 2023, he hadn’t had a full night’s sleep in over four years. (1)
Christine sadly passed away in December 2025, and Peter still hears from the Admiral Nurse team. “I wasn’t embarrassed at all to ask for help – I actually really needed it.” (3) secure.poppyscotland.org.uk/…
Every poppy you wear and every donation you give helps us be there.

“I was injured on duty and over five years I was finally diagnosed with a hole in my hip and osteoarthritis in my knee. It was absolutely excruciating.” For Derek Loughran, a former Royal Military Police Sergeant, those years of pain affected everyone at home. (1)
After 11 years in the Army, Derek was medically discharged in 2019. He reached out to Poppyscotland, and within hours had a reply. Days later, a treadmill arrived. “On paper it was only a treadmill, but to me it gave me back an element of control of my life.” (2)
Derek’s back at work and slowly venturing out again with his wife and four children. His message: “Swallow your pride and ask for the help.” When one person serves, the whole family serves too. (3)
