Monitoring port activity in the Seto Inland Sea through a set of surviving WWII Imperial Navy Battleship binoculars
Early on, around 1910, Japanese Navy realised dependence on battleship imports from Britain was a liability and struck out on their own.
Developed their own capabilities, ended up in a strong position for all the later wars in APAC.
An old lesson some still haven't learned.

I think the aircraft emerged out of clouds in clear view of Japanese carriers with ammunition being loaded. So it was good luck
Cipher thing may also be true and was a general Intelligence failure of Axis throughout different parts of the War
Manstein would’ve won Kursk had secret plans not been captured by Russians
U-Boats wouldve wrecked had Enigma not been cracked
Replying to @bvlldhist_
IIRC, the americans had cracked the japanese naval cypher. I doubt Midway was an "accident".
Re: NMIA Commute Discourse
The cab app (not pre-booked) quoted me Rs. 21K for transfer from Narita into Tokyo.
Visited the Yamato (Battleship) Museum in Kure yesterday.
Can never get over the whole concept of Japs realising before time they'd been left behind by the West and inorganically upgrading themselves in industry, military etc to become a great power.

Tell Sam Altman that I use my 64GB of RAM to run print("Hello, World!"). I want him to know it's me.

Been eating out multiple times a day for 2+ weeks in $35K PCI Japan now. Small and big cities both.

Almost everywhere
Most interesting part about Hiroshima for me is it having a six-river delta with a dense network of bridges for connectivity.
Loved this little cover to hide (yet keep accessible) the fire extinguisher at the Hiroshima Peace Museum.
Proper achievement of form and function.
Halloween is massive even in a Tier 2 city like Hiroshima. Small kids to teens everyone's dressed up, public events with festive music all over. Amazing vibes.
Sure it might not show up in the TFR stats but I saw quite a few moms riding bikes with two kids (on carriers front and back) in Kyoto and it was always such a cute/badass sight.
