A new report shows that governments owned 30 of the 64 Live Nation amphitheaters and outdoor stadiums that were audited and examined. At least $420 million in taxpayer subsidies have been identified that were accumulated through arrangements spanning multiple years. Examples range from Dallas to Birmingham to Nashville.
The subsidies include municipal bond financing, property and sales tax abatements, below-market land leases, tax dollars funneled to venue upgrades, and minimal provisions for public-interest clawbacks.
Taxpayers are burdened with the long-term debt of municipal bonds issued to build or renovate these venues, and the public suffers great losses in potential tax revenue. Meanwhile, Live Nation reaps the revenues through ticket sales, high concession markups, and even selling naming rights on government-owned buildings.
This is a textbook example of our public assets and public funding being gratuitously exploited to sustain Live Nation's monopoly power. They profit off our tax dollars by bribing our politicians and then they raise ticket prices on us.
We're essentially financing our own obstruction to affordable concert tickets.
Do these corporate execs even know how to play an instrument? Where do they muster the audacity to funnel so much revenue from musicians to themselves? Can they perform anything at all? Is there anything about them that's entertaining? Or is their "special talent" simply just being a vampiric parasite on our nation's culture, draining innocent American families of their hard-earned money?

Oil billionaire Jeffery Hildebrand owns one of the largest methane-polluting oil and gas companies in America. He and his wife gave more than $15 MILLION to Trump and Republicans.
Trump then nominated his wife to be an ambassador and installed a former lobbyist for Hildebrand’s company in charge of rewriting methane regulations at the EPA.
Now they’re getting rid of the program requiring oil and gas companies to investigate and fix some of their worst methane leaks.
Beyond the insane corruption, it’s just STUPID beyond belief.
If an oil company is leaking natural gas into the atmosphere, wasting energy and accelerating climate change, FIX THE DAMN LEAK.
Why on earth would we make it easier for companies to waste perfectly usable energy while Americans are struggling to pay their energy bills?
The only ones that stand to benefit are the companies operating old, leak-prone wells like Hilcorp. Those wells only produce 6% of our oil and gas but they release HALF of the industry's methane emissions.
So let me get this straight.
Your energy bills are through the roof. This won't meaningfully bring them down. We’re making it easier for oil companies to waste energy and pump more pollution into our atmosphere.
And one of the biggest beneficiaries is a billionaire Trump donor whose former lobbyist helped write the rollback in the first place.

To review, a new book containing incendiary claims about Jared Kushner’s financial dealings during Trump’s first term has ignited a political and media firestorm.
In the book, the top intelligence official in the United Arab Emirates, Ali Al Shamsi, is reported to have called Kushner “the most expensive employee we’ve ever had”.
The book details alleged payments into two “slush fund” bank accounts allegedly set up for Kushner by Emirati prince Mohamed bin Zayed (MBZ) and Saudi Arabian prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) during Trump’s first term.

Dwight Jackson was putting up Halloween decorations when he had a seizure and collapsed. His brother called 911.
EMS was treating him when the officer showed up, shoved everyone aside and jumped on top of him.
On camera, the officer claims Jackson was "actively grabbing my throat." His brother screams over and over that Jackson just had a seizure.
Then the officer turns to EMS and says, "Help us restrain him."
Jackson says it was "more terrifying than being in the war."
The officer has been fired. Jackson was never booked into jail. He says they sat him in the back of a patrol car, then let him go.
Should this officer be charged with a crime, or is firing him enough?
