Breaking new grounds in Ladakh’s high-altitude agricultural landscape!
Proud to announce that the experimental saffron cultivation, over recently restored degraded land in Leh, has begun to blossom, in a record-breaking 30 days, against the usual two-month timeline for the first bloom. Inspected the saffron field today to witness the first saffron bloom.
On an average, 20 to 25 flowers are blooming daily with 72 flowers blooming this morning. In just 04 days, nearly 22 grams of pure saffron has been collected.
This remarkable achievement is a powerful testament to the resilience of our environment and the immense, untapped potential of high-altitude farming in our region.
This breakthrough lays a promising foundation for commercial-scale production, thereby, opening up new avenues for cultivation, agro-based entrepreneurship in Ladakh and paving the way for a stronger, thriving, self-reliant local economy.
My deepest appreciation and congratulations to the Agriculture Department of UT Ladakh, our dedicated and hardworking field staff, for significantly contributing to the success of this pilot project.

Proponents for the dam claim concerns due to the Medog 60 GW hydro project being built by China upstream in the Yarlung Tsangpo gorge in Tibet.
Opposition, mainly local-led by the Adi people of the Siang claim immense loss of culture & livelihood that the SUMP project might bring to their heartland.

The doctors at Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, have confirmed that both the orthopaedic and plastic surgeries performed on the young girl who was brutally attacked in Rapthadu, Andhra Pradesh, have been successful. She has now been shifted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for close monitoring. My heartfelt gratitude to the medical team working tirelessly to save her life. Our government stands firmly with the family and will ensure that the child receives the best possible medical care and all necessary support throughout her recovery. I will be visiting the hospital this afternoon to take stock of the progress personally and to speak to the doctors.

🚨 URGENT | BENGALURU AIRPORT T1 At Taste of India, Bengaluru Airport T1 (Gate 16–17), our family ordered VEG BIRYANI, clearly mentioned on the bill, but we were served NON-VEGETARIAN FOOD. We are a strictly vegetarian family, and even children unknowingly consumed it. This has caused severe distress and hurt our religious sentiments. 🎥 Videos of our conversation with the restaurant manager & chef are attached. They also confirmed the food was having chicken. Bill and other evidence are also attached. If you're ordering vegetarian food from an outlet that also serves non-vegetarian food, you're being foolish. You may be strictly following your Dharam and religious beliefs, but the outlet doesn't necessarily care about them. They may use the same utensils, cooking surfaces, or equipment for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. They're not going to maintain separate utensils just to respect your beliefs.
So, if you're serious about maintaining vegetarian food practices, don't order from outlets that serve both. Choose a pure vegetarian outlet instead. Your beliefs deserve consistency, not just blind trust in a restaurant's menu.
