Canada is becoming more like Springfield every day.
We want to address some confusion surrounding the investigation into the home invasion in the Bridle Path neighbourhood.
Investigators immediately recognized the potential connection between the home invasion and the individual who showed up at hospital with a gunshot wound.
But recognizing a potential suspect and having enough evidence to arrest them are two different things. Suspicion alone isn’t enough. Police need reasonable grounds, supported by evidence, to make an arrest.
We will continue to gather evidence and will go where the evidence takes us. We are grateful for the professionalism, tenacity and commitment of our investigators who continue this work.
Let’s keep the focus where it belongs: finding the outstanding suspects and holding those responsible for this violent home invasion accountable.

A satirist created a false, incendiary social media post, attributed to Jacinthe-Eve Arel, the new chief of staff to a Quebec government minister. It falsely claimed she would give her vote away to a man ( Eric Duhaime- Conservative Party). Radio Canada reported it as if it were true. CBC -Radio Canada’s responsibility to the public here is not complete I’m afraid. An apology from Ms Hebert is not terribly relevant. To regain credibility a person in a position of responsibility should explain how it passed, or in this case, failed, editorial verification. Please describe the chain of editorial decisions that allowed this fabrication onto its airwaves. And how it will prevent that from happening again.

Wife of a long term dementia patient here - 👋
If Bruce had signed an advanced directive, would I have been left to make the decision on when to apply MAiD?
Even after 11 years, yesterday I saw him smile, laugh, interact and enjoy his meals while being non-mobile, incontinent and non verbal.
I can promise you, I would ignore any advanced directive. Yes, he is a different man with a different life now but subjectively and objectively he is comfortable and content. I would not believe this Bruce would want to stop living.
In this case, would the “state” step in to provide MAiD over my objections and experience? We are rushing to a set of really complex entanglements. So much room for harm.
As a cancer MD, here’s what terrifies me about advance MAiD requests.
A patient with dementia could be smiling, laughing and enjoying life.
But a document signed years earlier says it’s time to die.
Administer MAiD and risk criminal charges? Refuse and potentially face a College complaint from the family?
What an extraordinary position to put a physician in.
Lorne Doerkson has the opportunity to do the funniest thing.
Congratulations to Jennifer Whiteside on being named Interim Leader of the BC NDP.
I sat across the floor from her for a long time and she is a serious person who works hard for the people she represents.
A good opposition makes for a better government, and I expect her to hold us to account while we get to work delivering what we promised British Columbians.
I fear what will happen when a critical mass of Canadians come to the conclusion that the justice system doesn't dispense justice.
The government would be much further ahead if it bought $1.6B worth of GPUs and ran Deepseek Flash 4.1 locally. #InCoherent
"refusing to disclose exactly how much of the company Canadian taxpayers now own"
How is this in any way normal? Are we supposed to shrug and let this secret government investment in private companies gambit be the new norm?
For over a decade, Reddit never missed an opportunity to preen about so-called “net neutrality.” It virtue-signaled that the company was “built on the premise of letting individuals decide what content they find interesting. We believe the same basic principle should apply to the internet as a whole.” It launched multiple “Days of Action,” trying to scaremonger people into believing that the internet as we knew it was about to end—obviously wrong then and now. Without utility-style internet regulation, Reddit warned that corporations would take actions solely “for their own profit.”
How times have changed. Reddit is now making its own “open” platform a walled garden. Specifically, it’s unilaterally decided to block consumers from accessing Reddit content unless they log in—what it calls a “logged-in-only experience.” (So much for letting “individuals decide what content they find interesting.”) That’s because corporate-controlled access yields more consumer-specific information that benefits Reddit’s own advertising and data businesses. All this despite the company being enormously profitable already—it’s made over $740 million this year, a record by far.
Far be it from me to suggest that Reddit must be regulated or prohibited from doing what they think is a key driver of “monetization on Reddit.” Assuming no violations of law or regulation, my views here are clear—and they don’t change, even when corporate leadership previously accused me of corruption and called repealing FCC regulations “un-American.” But when a company that has constantly and vitriolically demanded regulation of its perceived rivals—to prevent alleged harms to consumer from conduct that was purely hypothetical—now explicitly boasts about giving consumers a less-open Internet to benefit its bottom line, it should get the public scrutiny and mockery it richly deserves.
As a man, I reject the assertion that only a man can represent my interests.
