Most companies are giving away the wrong thing to AI.
Intelligence is becoming a commodity. You can rent it from frontier labs, big model providers, or open-weight models, and swap between them as they improve.
Your context is not a commodity.
How you allocate marketing spend.
How you make decisions.
What you pay your cloud provider.
That is your edge.
Hand it to a model company and you risk it being trained on and redistributed to everyone, including your competitors.
Rent the intelligence. Own the context.
Where do you draw the line on what your company shares with model providers?

OpenAI and Anthropic raised $217B in the first half of 2026, 43% of all global venture dollars. Down at pre-seed, AI's share barely moved and the checks got 27% bigger, so the early money is going into everything stacked on top of the models.
That's most of what the Vermilion portfolio shipped this summer - not just making an smarter but actually checkable. Bet 2026 is the year the question changes from "can the agent do this?" to "did it"

10 years ago I wouldn't shut up about how important distributed GPU infrastructure would become. 7 years ago, I joined Crusoe as their third engineer.
