An @AJCLatino delegation led by @AJCCEO Ted Deutch arrived in Panama earlier this month, shortly after a devastating earthquake. The delegation included AJC Latino Council Members from Costa Rica, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama. The delegation expressed solidarity with the Panamanian people and met with President @JoseRaulMulino at the Presidential Palace, where AJC presented him with the Light Unto the Nations Award in recognition of his commitment to democracy and his longstanding friendship with the Jewish people. AJC's Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs looks forward to continuing its strong partnership with President Mulino and the people of Panama.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman has pleaded guilty to 12 federal charges, including nine hate crime charges, in connection with the antisemitic terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, targeting a group of people calling for the release of hostages held in Gaza. The June 2025 attack claimed the life of 82-year-old Karen Diamond and left several others with life-threatening injuries and permanent disabilities. We extend our deepest condolences to Karen’s family and loved ones as they continue to grieve this devastating loss. This guilty plea marks an important step toward accountability. No one should face violence for being Jewish or supporting Israel. Antisemitic violence must be met with justice and an unequivocal message that hatred has no place in our society. justice.gov/opa/pr/man-plead…

Voter participation is central to thriving democracies. Schools play a vital role in building the next generation of engaged and well-informed voters. However, schools are just as vulnerable to divisiveness, misinformation, and polarization as any institution. Election season can be rife with conspiratorial, binary thinking and oversimplified narratives, the same patterns that fuel antisemitism. AJC's Center for Education Advocacy supports school leaders with guidance about how to teach about elections, foster inclusive classroom discussion on challenging subjects, and address antisemitic or inflammatory rhetoric that may surface during campaigns: ajc.org/news/guidance-for-k-…

An assailant attacked Israel’s embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, shouting “Allahu Akbar” and wounding a guard with a knife before being killed by security forces. This is the second attack on the Israeli embassy in Belgrade in two years. Growing radicalization has made Jews and Israelis in Europe less safe and poses significant national security threats. It is no secret that terror cells and their backers are actively recruiting and radicalizing young people to target Jewish and Israeli targets across Europe. We welcome Interior Minister Ivica Dačić’s decision to raise Serbia’s terror alert to its highest level and urge European leaders to take further concrete steps to prevent terrorism and protect vulnerable targets. ajc.org/playbook/diplomatic-…

Today marks the 61st anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the Catholic Church document that revolutionized Catholic-Jewish relations and rejected antisemitism. We are proud of AJC's decades-long commitment to this critical interfaith partnership. ✝️✡️ ajc.org/tags/nostra-aetate

We welcome Peru’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism, an important step in strengthening efforts to recognize and respond to antisemitism.

AJC helped lead the development of the 2005 European Monitoring Centre
Working Definition of Antisemitism, which became the basis for the IHRA, adopted in 2016. AJC has long championed its widespread adoption and implementation.

@AJCLatino will continue to urge governments across the Americas to take decisive action by recognizing antisemitism through the IHRA, the Global Guidelines for Countering Antisemitism, and other means.

In Berlin, a man was knocked to the ground and brutally assaulted simply because he was Jewish.   We wish him a swift recovery and thank the police for investigating this abhorrent act of antisemitic violence.   Jews in Germany have the right to live free from fear and violence. The German government and law enforcement must do everything in their power to protect Jewish communities and ensure that this right is upheld.

As we await the result of the Israeli elections and approach the U.S. midterm elections, the Jewish community is facing a deepening political polarization. How can we engage across our differences without compromising our values? Join AJC and @RabbiSacks’ Ambassador Daniel Taub, Dr. Tanya White, and Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Sinensky for the third annual joint program as part of the Sacks Global Day of Learning. Drawing on the teachings of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks and Torah learning, this conversation will explore what our faith and Jewish identity teach us about meaningfully engaging across ideological divides, and repairing relationships and peoplehood in an increasingly divisive world. Eight years ago, a far-right terrorist murdered eleven Jews during a Shabbat service at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history. We will never forget the innocent souls taken. May their memories be a blessing.

We deeply appreciate the strong response by the @StLouisBlues leadership to the antisemitic banners displayed at Thursday’s game. The offending items were immediately confiscated and those responsible were removed. By unequivocally condemning antisemitism and standing with the Jewish community, the Blues set a standard for how @NHL teams and other national leagues and teams should respond to hate. Jewish fans should be able to enjoy a hockey game without fear of antisemitism.

Tonight, @Ilhan and state Sen. Omar Fateh are hosting Hasan Piker, a streamer with a long record of antisemitic rhetoric. Thank you to @SenAmyKlobuchar, @RepAngieCraig, @BettyMcCollum04, and @KellyMorrisonMN , State Democratic Party Chair @richardcarlbom, and many other Minnesota elected officials for refusing to look away. Piker has justified the October 7 attacks and targeted Jews. He should not be platformed. Every Democratic Party leader and candidate should say so. Silence is a choice. ajc.org/news/hasan-piker-twi…

We are horrified by the racially-motivated terror attack that occurred outside of Paris on Friday that left one person dead and five more wounded. We mourn 26-year-old Pengo Bossio Wangi, who was murdered in the attack. Our thoughts go out to the victims and their families. No one should be targeted because of their origin, skin color, or religion.

Americans struggling to afford groceries deserve real solutions, not misinformation blaming support for Israel for their economic challenges. The United States can invest in our communities, tackle the cost of living, and stand by a strategic partner that advances our own interests. These are not competing priorities. Campaign season does not excuse the use of misleading—and harmful—claims. Voters in Michigan and across the country deserve better.

32 years ago, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Prime Minister Abdelsalam al-Majali signed the Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty and President of Israel Ezer Weizman shook hands with King Hussein of Jordan. Through years of regional tensions and conflict, this vital relationship has endured, grounded in common interests, a recognition that the security and well-being of both peoples is advanced by cooperation in multiple sectors. AJC applauds the wise leaders who have maintained this mutually beneficial commitment.
