Was so great talking to Android devs yesterday at the #AndroidDevSummit! I learned a lot about all the ways Google is making it easier to create powerful apps for every kind and size of screen. Summit is still happening today so follow along with @AndroidDev for more.
Android CLI is here to take the tedious infrastructure work off your plate. 🛠️
We built this tool-first interface to optimize your preferred agent so you can hand off the heavy lifting. Here’s what’s new. 👇🧵
Give your agent Android expertise in under a minute. 🧠
We now have over 30 new Android skills across 20 areas, and we're adding more every week to our GitHub repo → goo.gle/48p3RPI
Use them and ask your agent to fix a performance issue. Show us what it caught! 👇
People who use the same app on their phone and their laptop spend 9x more in the app than people who only use a phone. Googlebook lets you reach those laptop users without building a second app. One codebase, both screens.
Learn how 👇🧵
Googlebook comes with 16GB of RAM and a fast on-device AI chip (45+ TOPS), so you can run AI models and dev tools right on the device. No slow cloud delays. No token bills. 💻
💚 It's good to be back. The energy at #AndroidDevSummit was unmatched. Check out this roundup of some of our favorite posts.👇🏽
It's only lunchtime, but I've already learned so much about some very interesting (and relevant) topics

Wasn’t expecting to see this during the Android Dev Summit keynote today. Thanks @matthewmccull!
Turn agent replies into native app UI with Agent-to-UI (A2UI) for Jetpack Compose, now in alpha!
A2UI lets agents respond with a real interactive UI built from your app's own components instead of a wall of text.

I’ve always believed that the endgame of spatial computing is something close to the holodeck on Star Trek – computing that feels limitless, immersive, and completely natural.
When we started building Android XR, we knew the early chapters of that story would require bulky headsets. That was the price of admission for the technology at the time.
Today, you can see the transition to the next generation happening in real time.
XREAL just officially launched XREAL AURA, the first wired XR glasses running Android XR. Because they’re dramatically lighter and more balanced than traditional headsets, they cross a critical barrier: you can comfortably keep them on for hours whether watching a movie or getting work done on multiple screens.
I’ve been using a pair recently, and it changes how you think about screens:
🟢 For productivity: I can pull up multiple virtual windows in a public space without anyone seeing my work. It completely changes working on the go.
🟢 For entertainment & daily apps: Because it runs Android, all of your favorite Google Play apps are natively there alongside immersive XR content.
🟢 For everyday life: With Gemini integrated, the glasses understand what you're looking at and can give you hands-free, contextual help as you walk around.
We wanted Android XR to be more than a cool tech demo – we wanted it to fit effortlessly into daily life. Today feels like a huge step in that direction.
Proud of the Google and XREAL teams who pulled this off!

I’ve just stepped off the stage at Android Developer Summit and am excited to share the updates my team and I gave there. We covered transforming how you build apps with agentic AI & tools that help you build for multiple devices.
Here’s the bits in a quick thread:

✨ This is huge 👀: We're launching Android MCP, powered by the AppFunctions API!
This lets your app integrate with @GeminiApp on Android so your users can ask questions that pull info from your app or take actions in it.
To support this, we're also launching a preview of the Connected Apps Platform.
This is the announcement I'm most excited about from #AndroidDevSummit!
Use your preferred coding agent directly in @AndroidStudio.
You can now choose from over 40 coding agents inside the IDE, giving your agents project context and access to Android Studio tools 🧵👇
Setup takes seconds and you can switch between agents.
Open Settings > Tools > AI > Agents, browse the marketplace, and install your coding agents.
It's the best of both worlds: your preferred agents AND Android Studio's tools (Emulator, Compose Preview rendering, and more).
Your 5-minute challenge. 🧪
Update to Android Studio Rabbit 2.
Settings > AI > Agents → install your agent
Then use this prompt:
"Build an Android 3D app that features popular attractions in [city name] using Material 3 design"
Show us what you make!👇
