OPINION: The institutions created to respond to humanity’s gravest crimes cannot merely ask whether victims have been heard as witnesses. They must ask whether victims have been heard as participants in justice itself, writes @AzeemIbrahim arab.news/65jjq

Allowing refugees to work legally could sharply cut the cost of prolonged displacement while restoring their economic agency. The current system does the opposite. @arabnews: arabnews.com/opinion/the-ref…

Millions of refugees are kept dependent because host countries restrict their right to work. In an era of shrinking aid budgets, letting people earn a living may be one of the most valuable forms of assistance we can provide. My latest in @ArabNews: arabnews.com/opinion/the-ref…

The nature of warfare is changing, and the consequences for civilians and humanitarian responders are becoming increasingly complex. At MedGlobal’s 2026 Conference, Dr. Azeem Ibrahim, OBE, highlighted the emerging challenges of modern warfare, where rapidly evolving technologies are reshaping conflicts and raising urgent questions about accountability, civilian protection, and humanitarian response. As the nature of conflict evolves, so must our approaches to protecting lives, safeguarding healthcare, and ensuring humanitarian principles are upheld. Because no matter how warfare changes, the responsibility to protect human life must remain constant. @AzeemIbrahim #MedGlobal #CollaborationForGood #HumanitarianAction #CivilianProtection #GlobalHealth

While NATO counts missiles in #Kaliningrad, Putin is using it to jam GPS, probe our thresholds and map how European societies fracture when the systems that keep them running go unreliable. From 3 to 36 spoofing antennas. This is the real front line. Ignore it at your peril. My piece in @MaceMagazine macemagazine.com/kaliningrad…

#Kaliningrad is Putin’s live lab for hybrid war. GPS spoofing antennas there jumped from 3 to 36 in a year, blanketing the Baltics and beyond. He’s not waiting for tanks - he’s stress-testing Europe’s infrastructure, air traffic, shipping and political will right now. Treat it like war or keep losing. @MaceMagazine macemagazine.com/kaliningrad…

Para académico Azeem Ibrahim, el problema surge cuando se quiere decidir dónde se puede rezar. Ortega busca destruir a "sociedad autónoma" 📲Más detalles: f.mtr.cool/gbnfnp9a5d

Dictators don’t target churches because they’re weak. They target them because churches answer to something higher than the state. When a government decides where people can pray, what clergy can preach, and who can train the next generation of priests, the issue is no longer just religious freedom. It’s whether anything is allowed to exist outside the state’s control. My latest in @ChDaily_News: christiandaily.com/opinion/n…

Dictators do not persecute Christians because they are weak. They persecute them because churches are the one institution that still answers to something higher than the state. In Nicaragua, Ortega has banned over 27,000 processions and forced hundreds of clergy into exile for refusing to submit. My latest piece in @ChDaily_News: christiandaily.com/opinion/n…

Dictators fear institutions that command loyalty outside state control. #Churches do exactly that. Nicaragua shows it clearly: 27,000+ #Christian processions banned and 200+ clergy forced into exile under Ortega & Murillo after churches sheltered protesters in 2018. When the regime decides where you can pray or carry a cross, nothing independent is safe. My latest piece in @ChDaily_News: christiandaily.com/opinion/n…

Malaysia says 1,476 Myanmar nationals returned voluntarily. The UN is less certain. They were in immigration detention. UNHCR was not allowed to interview them first. A signature is not a choice when the alternative is indefinite confinement. Voluntary return should mean more than the absence of force. It should mean the presence of a meaningful choice. @arabnews arab.news/gtc54

OPINION: A refugee choosing between two viable futures is exercising agency. A refugee choosing between detention, destitution and danger is doing something very different. Voluntary return should therefore mean more than the absence of physical force, writes @AzeemIbrahim arab.news/gtc54

Two Myanmars now coexist. One holds the UN seat. The other runs the borders, the trade, and the refugee talks. Legitimacy and control have split, and the international system has no good answer for it. My piece in @arabnews arabnews.com/opinion/the-wor…

Russia has insulated its urban middle class from the war. New rules that lock draft-age men out of mortgages, property and business ownership suggest that insulation is ending - and that Moscow is preparing for a final push. thetimes.com/world/russia-uk…
