I think Riot is prepared to wage war on the TCG market. The product placement here is wild, you know they’re serious.
IMO they’re aiming for the #1 TCG spot and I think they’re gonna pull it off.
Do not underestimate the marketing power of this multi billion dollar studio!
For the uninitiated, the 1945 Romanée-Conti is considered to be the most luxurious, prestigious, rarest, costly wine bottles ever. It regularly sells for like $500,000+.
I don’t know if an Origins box or case will ever be worth $500,000. But it’s going to age really well. Reallllllly well. Just my gut feeling. Not financial advice. Certainly will not happen in the next 5 years.

The trend data is in for the week for Riftbound, and compared to how bad the reaction has been to Radiance, the data looks really good. The game has grown significantly since SFD, and Unleashed releases. We likely peaked for the year with Vendetta and T1 boxes, but it's completely healthy and normal.
I think now, and the next couple months will be remembered as the absolute best entry point for Riftbound for most cards and products. Obviously you could argue before release because Origins cases were cheap on preorder, and you could get Project K at a more affordable price.
Right now you can get Vendetta, and Radiance around MSRP. Origins, Spiritforged, and Unleashed have been creeping down in price. Top chase cards are very easily obtainable at a reasonable price in mint condition. Most of the sought after promotional cards have came down substantially.
I believe all 5 sets are strong buys for sealed, I think they will all perform well as the first block of sets. I think we will have a sizeable move up across the market next year regardless of what the overall TCG market is doing. People that think we are completely bound to however Pokemon modern performs are completely overlooking the huge Riftbound demand, and growth story.
The future is bright, belated birthday Riftbound.

Riftbound Investment Tier List: Post-Market Crash Edition
Based on how I see these performing in the market over the next 18 months. Nuance is required, so don’t take this at face value. I think there are excellent buys in this market, as well as some traps still out there. This is currently a buyer’s market, so try to get the best deals you can and accumulate with patience.

Some people are (still) giving me flack for this post but I don’t think they understand where I’m coming from. One guy even gave the same ol’ schtick about how I’m just upset because I’m a scalper looking to profit off boxes, lol. I would rather watch paint dry. 🤣
Any and all of my criticisms for Radiance is out of concern for the longevity of a game that I strongly believe has the potential to be the third coming of TCGs after MTG and Pokémon.
The reason why you don’t want boxes to fall heavily below MSRP is because it signals to large retailers and small businesses to reconsider buying product from distributors moving forward. This greatly inhibits the ability for the game to grow and reach critical mass. It’s not rocket science. Fortunately, that hasn’t happened yet. The game is still young though and it is NOT invincible in the same way MTG and Pokemon are which have established reputations built across decades.
I’m going to refrain from further criticism on Radiance because I believe the team has heard my grievances probably more than enough times and I’m not here to perpetually be a thorn in their butts.
I think I have finished accumulating my RB year one bag minus some things still in transit. Everything is otherwise in storage, sealed, placed in plastic bins, and climate controlled.
I have enough exposure to Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed, Vendetta, and Radiance (which you guys know I love to give a hard time 🤣) in the form of sealed and slabs/raw sigs. I also have two of each English bundle and have exposure to all Nexus Night stuff.
I’m missing the T1 signature bundle. I really don’t know if I can ever be asked to buy the T1 sig bundle; many great serials have been pulled and it’s STILL priced at like $7k with 10,125 units. Insane.
I think my big regret here may be missing out on project K. No one wants to sell me a complete sealed set of English Project K 2024 Trial decks at a reasonable price, so it seems I’m out of luck. Never got a Lunar Teemo or the silver packs.
I have zero prize wall or best ofs. Unsure if I am missing out here as well for these. I understand the appeal but they’re also just base art legends on metal. 🤪
Regarding Project K red and silver packs:
There is nothing wrong with them. I do prefer English product as a rule of thumb but the red/silver packs were region exclusive before RB launched so they have provenance. Unfortunately that means they are giga expensive already. That’s my only complaint about them, otherwise I would have some. 🤪
My opinion of RB slab price is multifaceted in the short term, ultimately it’s impossible to know the bottom unless you have enough money to set the bottom yourself. However pops have slowed down and are lower than I actually expected. Consider as well that print runs will end in 2028 for the first 5 sets. Distribution must still take place during this intermittent time period. I am thus not trying to time the bottom too much, I am just buying into market fear for collectibles I believe will be impossible to get in 5-10 years without robbing a bank.
Plus I really like the cards.
Big Riftbound mail day for me, the biggest so far!
I consider the Kai’sa OGN Signature a top 5 grail of boosters in the game and very close to OGN Ahri sig if not tied.
GGEZ Teemo needs no explanation…was finally time to grab him. I think he is going to be one of the most iconic cards in the game.
I really like the SFD Bard art and it’s BARD which is one letter short of BARDY so of course I had to get him.
I know the Heartsteel sigs aren’t universally loved but I do like them as a fun homage to male pop groups, the rest are on their way. 👀
The bottom line is, the LoL IP has been around for 15 years with a massive fan base and I am confident it will stick around.
That said, I’m still excited for RB’s trajectory, but I want the RB team to STOP and DIG into the aftermath of Radiance before Legacy reveal season.

Everything about this post is normal and to be expected with one exception, specifically that Radiance was 4x popular at launch. To me this is a great indication that the game is growing significantly despite my grievances with Radiance’s set design.

I was a big fan of Fnatic when they weren’t playing against NA 😂. League was still so small then, completely unrecognizable compared to now. Teams like Fnatic really set the foundation for what League of Legends is today, and there would be no Riftbound without League!
As an aside and this is very random, but I became mutuals on X with Yellowstar recently (OG Fnatic support and shotcaller). I was so surprised, was a cool moment. I remember picking up Leona after watching him play in some matches. ☀️
