BYU's Fatal Flaw per ESPN: Warning signs on defense "BYU's biggest issue at this moment is an inability to keep running backs healthy, but in theory, star LJ Martin's return to full strength (assuming it happens) fixes that. So let's instead point out that the defense is becoming less than the sum of its parts. The Cougars allowed 20 points against an Arizona State offense starting two freshmen in the backfield -- they sacked Jake Fette six times, but Cardae Mack rushed for 123 yards -- and they couldn't stop UCF and Keyone Jenkins when it mattered the most either. They'll need far more sharpness against Utah this weekend." espn.com/college-football/st…

"Don't expect LJ Martin to play for BYU. He's been out. He's five weeks out from his injury. He's close. I've been told there's a small chance, but I wouldn't expect LJ Martin to play for BYU." - ESPN's Pete Thamel youtube.com/watch?v=HPSuPY3_…

Will BYU CB Evan Johnson play this week? "I think there’s always a chance. It’s day by day with his injury, so we’ll see as the week goes on. I think Evan will play when he feels comfortable playing. If he can get out and practice this week, maybe it’s 10 to 20 snaps on Saturday. I don’t know. But whoever is out there on Saturday will be prepared to play." - Kelly Poppinga youtube.com/watch?v=3MjZ4Y4Z…

Aaron Roderick's breakdown of Utah's defense: They're good at everything "Same as ever. It’s been the same defense. They’re really good at stopping the run, and they play really good man coverage. They’re good at everything. They’ve been a great defense for a long time, and there’s been no drop-off this year from Coach Scalley to Coach Swan. They’re a very, very good defense." youtube.com/watch?v=tKpRy2Zi…
