Earlier today the NAIA membership approved adding a fifth year of eligibility, replacing the current four-year limit.

Velocity is becoming old news at the higher levels…..95 is no big deal anymore.
Stop chasing velocity only and learn how to pitch and collect outs.
The ones who throw strikes and gets outs are the ones who pitch when it matters.

Baseball offseason throwing program, step one is rest. Pitch Smart says pitchers under 18 need at least four months a year off throwing, two to three in a row. Shut it down after fall ball, get stronger, then build back slowly. As a dad, I'd rather miss a lesson than an arm.

High stress innings have a direct correlation to arm injuries as well and certainly correlate directly to an early exit from games 😊
Everybody wants velocity because numbers say the swing and miss rates are higher, thus allowing pitchers to get away with more mistakes that inevitably will happen. With that being said, time and time again you see quality baseball programs with a decent number of guys who don't break the radar gun and simply know how to get outs!
Parents : Over the next couple of weeks , you will be sent an email telling you that your student athlete can participate on a “ National Team” in December -PG winter classic, Jan -MLK classic etc. AVOID ! Those events are the start of injuries in spring !

STOP PITCHING KIDS ON BACK-TO-BACK DAYS.
Every weekend, travel-ball coaches try to save their best pitchers by throwing them just 1–2 innings Saturday, then bringing them back Sunday.
But those short outings still create fatigue.
After analyzing over 161,000 paired arm strength exams from the ArmCare database, including pitch-count data, we found that less than 30 pitches:
28.4% lost more than 10% of their arm strength.
8.2% lost more than 20%.
Research has also found that pitchers who regularly throw while fatigued had 36× the odds of being in the group requiring shoulder or elbow surgery.
There's a better way.
Let pitchers work deeper into Saturday's pool games within appropriate pitch limits. Save fresh arms for Sunday's championship run. Add pitcher-only players if needed.
Winning a tournament isn't worth risking a kid's arm.
