The first peer reviewed paper on the methodology being used by the Artifact Foundation to measure and analyze ancient hard stone vessels has been published in the remote sensing journal!
This is the first of several papers that have been worked on over the last few years, and lays the methodological groundwork for the results that will come with the analysis of the broader vase study, which includes artifacts from private collection, the Boston museum, the London museum, and more.
Huge Kudos to Karoly Poka @karolypoka and the Artifact Foundation @ArtifactFNDN for progressing the work!
1/4 Our first peer-reviewed paper connected to ancient stone-vase research is out in Remote Sensing! 🏺
This is the first published step toward our larger vase study.

@DabblersDen challenges the long-standing explanation that wind and water created the Carolina Bays.
He points to their unusual elliptical shapes, raised rims, and consistent orientation as reasons to question the accepted theory.
With modern tools like LiDAR revealing more detail than ever before, Chris believes it’s time to take another look at how these formations originated.

@DabblersDen shares his theory that a massive asteroid struck an ancient ice sheet over Michigan, launching enormous chunks of ice across North America and ultimately forming the Carolina Bays.
He also suggests that the Michigan Basin could be the remains of the original impact site, challenging the conventional explanation for how these formations came to exist.

Tens of thousands of Carolina Bays are scattered across the eastern United States. Some are small enough to fit in a backyard, while others are large enough to contain entire cities. Yet they share remarkably similar shapes and orientations.
@DabblersDen returns to the @MattBeallPod to challenge the accepted explanation for their formation and explain why he believes a massive asteroid impact could be responsible.

@DabblersDen was our 4th guest ever on the @MattBeallPod , and nearly three years later, he’s back in the studio!
Chris has spent years researching the Carolina Bays and challenging the idea that they were formed by wind and water. His theory that an ancient impact over Michigan could explain these formations is pretty wild.
Great having him back! Check out his episode below!

What could have created tens of thousands of nearly identical elliptical depressions across the eastern United States?
@DabblersDen believes the answer may be an ancient cosmic impact over Michigan that sent massive amounts of glacial ice crashing back to Earth.
But when did it happen? Chris's latest research points to a much older event than he originally believed.
