My biggest takeaways from Devcon 8 this week:
1- Ethereum is the best positioned protocol to navigate both the current AI-maggedon & Q-day (circa 2028). CROPS will be a very valuable feature set in a post-quantum environment and Ethereum building neutral infrastructure here is amazing.
2- There is a disconnect from the community of commercial & financial projects that are core practical use-cases of Ethereum with durable traction & loyal users. Maybe the financial use-case is the killer app and that should be celebrated.
In parallel, lots of concern about grant funding drying up while eschewing tokenization, DeFi & financial use-cases. Note: DeFi yield is the current best funding mechanism of grants & the era of the most philanthropic funding was 2017-2018 when capital formation (ICOs) was gaining traction.
