Worth noting what kind of money this is ๐Ÿ‘‡ โ†’ A one-off sale, not a new income stream โ†’ Changes balance sheet, not earnings engine โ†’ Still has conditions before anything lands โ€œUnlocking valueโ€ usually means exactly this: swapping an asset you own for cash you can do something else with. Genuinely useful - just a different thing from the business earning more. Itโ€™s also why a once-off can flatter an earnings number for a year. Same lesson as Vodacom last week: check which figure youโ€™re looking at. ๐Ÿ’Š easyequities.co.za | #EasyEquities

Money left sitting still doesnโ€™t stay still. It quietly buys LESS every year. Thatโ€™s what this one is really about. Inflation is just a measure of how much the cost of living has gone up - and each year the same amount in your pocket buys a little less than it did. The interest you earn on savings often isnโ€™t enough to keep up. Investing is one way to try to stay ahead of that. Not a guarantee: share prices move around, and you can lose money. But staying invested, rather than hopping in and out, is what gives you the chance to ride out the short-term wobbles. Consider starting as early as you can. And build it around your own needs and goals, not someone elseโ€™s. #Thrive | #EasyEquities

Your feed is about to fill with people telling you exactly what the results mean for markets. So hereโ€™s one statistic youโ€™ll see regularly, with the part that usually gets left off: โ€œSince 1950, the S&P 500 has been higher 12 months after every single midterm election.โ€๐Ÿ“„ Nineteen elections, nineteen times higher. A genuinely striking record. Now the footnotes... Nineteen is a small number. Shorten the window and it gets messier - from election day to year-end, the record is 13 out of 19. And nobody has found the cause. Researchers keep landing somewhere less dramatic: interest rates, inflation, and what companies actually earn. Which US party wins shows no consistent pattern. The stat isnโ€™t wrong. Itโ€™s just being asked to carry more than it can. The loudest voices this week will be the certain ones. Certainty is the cheapest thing on the internet. Honest question for you
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Two elections. One week. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US midterms - Tuesday 3 November ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ SA local gov elections - Wed 4 November Your timeline is about to get extremely loud. So hereโ€™s something worth knowing before it does: "The JSE isnโ€™t really a South African index." Depending on how you measure it, somewhere around two-thirds of the earnings behind the All Share come from outside South Africa. Estimates range from about 60% to 75% - it depends whether you count dual-listed companies, big exporters, or revenue versus earnings. But every method lands in the same place: most of the money the index earns is made somewhere else. Richemont sells watches in Asia. BAT sells cigarettes globally. The miners sell into world commodity prices. So when people tell you what an election will do to โ€œthe market,โ€ itโ€™s worth asking which market they mean - because a large chunk of the JSE is busy earning dollars, euros and yuan regardless of who wins a ward in Gqeberha. Doesnโ€™t mean elections donโ€™t matter. They matter enormously. Just maybe not in the way your feed is about to suggest. Honest question for you We had the opportunity to engage with teachers at Hoรซrskool Birchleigh, where we spoke about investing, the different ways they can earn income from their investments, and the importance of making informed financial decisions. We also discussed the Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), explaining how it works, its tax benefits and how it can be used to grow wealth over time. The session aimed to encourage teachers to explore investment opportunities and make their money work for them. Learn more ๐Ÿ“– easyequities.co.za/tfsa-inveโ€ฆ #EasyRetire | #EasyEquities

A whole Amazon share costs more than most people have lying around. A fraction of one costs whatever youโ€™ve got. Meet Angela. She has $20 - not enough for a whole Amazon share. So she buys a piece of one instead. Same share, smaller slice. And if she keeps adding, those pieces add up to a whole one. Thatโ€™s the bit worth sitting with: the price of a share doesnโ€™t decide whether you can invest in it. You donโ€™t have to stay out of the market while you save up for the whole thing. You still get the benefits - the shareโ€™s potential to grow, and dividends relative to the size of your piece. And putting smaller amounts across different shares is a sensible way to spread your risk. Read more ๐Ÿ“–easyequities.co.za/fractionaโ€ฆ #Thrive | #EasyEquities

Two ways a company hands money back, and AB InBev is doing both: โ†’ Dividends - cash in your account. โ‚ฌ0.40 a share โ†’ Buybacks - company buys back its own shares No cash lands from a buyback. Instead there are fewer shares in existence, so what you own becomes a slightly bigger slice of the same company. One you can spend. The other quietly makes your piece bigger. ๐Ÿป easyequities.co.za | #EasyEquities

Going from 6 to 54 active ETFs shows that the platform model works. The next test for the industry is clear holdings disclosure, so investors can see exactly what each active manager owns, every day.

"An actively managed ETF built to capture the long-term growth potential of South African equities while limiting the impact of market downturns. Rather than tracking an index, the managers adjust holdings as conditions change - pairing local equity exposure with liquid assets and approved financial instruments to cushion the portfolio during market stress." Itโ€™s managed by MitonOptimal South Africa, an independent, owner-managed discretionary fund manager thatโ€™s been working with South African financial advisers since 2000, with an emphasis on capital preservation and risk management. Implementation comes via Catalyx Capital, and the fund is run by a team rather than a single individual. ๐Ÿ’ก Now live on EasyEquities in your ZAR account and TFSA , giving you access to a professionally managed, JSE-listed portfolio with a clear focus on managing the downside. Income generated by the portfolio, including dividends, is distributed annually. Hereโ€™s to growth that keeps one eye on the way down. easyequities.co.za | #EasyEquities
