The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

"It is possible to kill children legally" wrote Graeme Wood about Gaza in The Atlantic in May 2024. What they do and justify abroad, they will eventually do and justify at home.
Mississippi's attorney general says a Senatobia police officer was justified in the June shooting death of a 1-year-old boy while responding to a shoplifting call. The conclusion of the state's investigation follows months of mourning and calls for justice. cnn.it/4z0O5X6

It’s been offered to me. It’s been offered to patients like me. I said no… and I am still waiting for healthcare and social supports. That’s coercion. You can’t ethically administered assisted dying when you won’t commit to assist people with surviving.

Claude in the desktop app needs to do better at keeping track of commits. It relies too heavily on old knowledge of what has been committed/pushed. Seems like an easy fix to have it check if it is going to state something relating to it @ClaudeDevs @bcherny @trq212 @amorriscode

Misan Harriman's full speech at Jason Arday's vigil in Trafalgar square, London @misanharriman "The legacy media crossed every line in the treatment of Jason" "They were gleefully enjoying racialised harassment which was started by an unapologetic ethno supremacist" "Imagine being so lost in the business of cruelty, that you relish hurting another human for sport, with your own poisoned pen" "Imagine an industry that rewards those who hold this pen for how cruel they can be"

You can unfollow any organisation; but I think the better strategy for change is also to point people in the right direction. The biggest misinformation coming out the black community is we do not have our own media. When we have @TheVoiceNews & @UKBlackcurrent and others

In the 22 days before his death, 249 articles were published about Jason Arday. That's more than 10 a day. Tia Lazaro-James has launched a petition on Change.org calling on the government to protect individuals from media harm. 🔗 Link: vist.ly/5f3ju

📢📢📢My book, Deep Unlearning, is now available for preorders at simonandschuster.com/books/D… I don't know how people write so many books because this one took a lot out of me. It turns out, I had a lot to say 😂, with editors cutting out 50k of my words 🫣

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability. It leaves our workers unprotected and our streets less safe. It's time for a change. I'm proud to support the Delivery Protection Act to crack down on exploitative subcontracting and build an economy that works for everyone.

You REDUCE crime by eliminating POVERTY. The reason so called nice neighborhoods have lower crime rates is because people’s basic needs are being met. It is not because of police, alarm systems, or neighborhood associations. Poverty creates crime.

🚨 FIFA's COO Kevin Lamour tells @AP he feels "deceived" by Gianni Infantino. "What has been announced in recent days and what has been happening behind the scenes in recent months defies belief and imagination. "To put it very clearly and directly: the project that has sparked so much controversy and debate is not a Fifa project. It is even less a project of Fifa’s administration. It is the project of one person. "The Fifa vice-presidents, the members of the Fifa Council, the confederations, the federations, the players, the leagues, the clubs, and the fans were not the only ones who were ignored. Fifa’s own administration was also deceived. “This lie by omission over many months and this unilateral exercise of power are not trivial. They are indicative of a lack of trust, a lack of transparency, a lack of discernment, a lack of good governance. And a serious lack of respect. "Not only must this project not go ahead - for obvious reasons that need not even be listed here - but the time has now come for football political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions. “Regarding this project and what comes next, everyone must take responsibility, because it is becoming increasingly difficult for Fifa’s administration to work under these conditions and fulfil its mission. "Our mission - the mission of the hundreds of passionate, dedicated and exemplary Fifa employees - is to serve football. Not to serve the personal interests of a person who, unfortunately, believes he embodies Fifa when he is supposed to be at its service. "A president must bring people together, unite them and inspire them. Today, we are experiencing the opposite. I have no authority to speak on behalf of my colleagues, and perhaps I am mistaken. But my feeling is that we all want to be proud to work for Fifa, and today, unfortunately, it seems that is no longer the case for many of us. That saddens me. "My colleagues - some of whom have dedicated their lives to football - deserve better than contempt and intimidation. "The ball is now in the court of those who have the power to change things. "I know I have a duty of loyalty to my employer. But I also, and above all, have a duty of loyalty to certain values and to the upbringing I have received, and a duty to support my colleagues. And if that means I lose my job, then so be it. I will understand and respect that decision. At least I'll sleep well tonight."

It’s nice to see mainstream outlets picking with the Jamaica beach access story I have been covering for a few years. 🙏🏾🇯🇲🏝️ It is a story that always gets a lot of traction online. My reports on this: voice-online.co.uk/?s=Jamaic… Kudos to ITV News for also covering it.
