Today I signed an Executive Order establishing a higher bar for data center development in Utah. Utahns deserve confidence that water resources, air quality, utility rates, wildlife, and quality of life will be protected. This framework helps ensure that data center development aligns with Utah’s long-term interests and reflects Utah values. In Utah, environmental stewardship and economic opportunity go hand in hand.

Every day, the men and women of the Utah Department of Public Safety work to protect Utahns, prevent tragedies, and respond when our neighbors need help most. For 75 years, DPS has served Utah with courage and dedication. To every DPS employee: Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lives you protect, and the extraordinary work you do to keep Utah safe.

BREAKING: Utah is turning the page at the former US Magnesium site. @UtahFFSL has selected @MarianaMinerals as the new operator to modernize operations, help fund the cleanup of decades of contamination, and conserve water for the Great Salt Lake.

Homelessness is a complex challenge, and addressing it requires all of us working together. This morning, I joined more than 350 service providers, first responders, elected officials, and partners at Utah’s Central Homelessness Summit to discuss how we can better help people move from crisis to stability. We’ve made historic investments in shelter, housing, public safety, and treatment. Now, our focus is on results: recovery, stability, and lasting independence. As our dear friend Pamela Atkinson taught us, we can never lose sight of the people behind the numbers. Thank you to everyone working to make a difference in the lives of Utahns.

Utah faced one of its toughest wildfire seasons in years. Through dangerous conditions, long days, and time away from their families, our firefighters and emergency responders showed extraordinary courage and dedication. We gathered to recognize the incredible work of those who helped protect Utah this wildfire season. Many missed important family milestones and made personal sacrifices to keep their fellow Utahns safe. We also remember the lives lost and the families forever changed by these fires. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who answered the call and helped protect our state.

Abby and I celebrated Utah’s remarkable artistic legacy at the Governor’s Mansion Artist Awards, recognizing three honorees who have helped shape it. Painter Ron Richmond creates deeply symbolic work that invites us to reflect on life, faith, and the world around us. The Utah Shakespeare Festival brings stories to life on stage and has made Cedar City a destination for exceptional theater. Executive Managing Director Michael Bahr and Artistic Director John DiAntonio accepted the award on its behalf. Former Sen. Haven J. Barlow helped shape Utah’s cultural institutions and championed the restoration of the Governor’s Mansion. His family accepted a posthumous lifetime achievement award recognizing his legacy. Thank you to the Governor’s Mansion Foundation and everyone who helped us celebrate these contributions to the arts in Utah.

Keep reading, even if you haven’t found a book you love yet. You never know what the next story might open up for you. Abby’s "Jennie Makes Room" invites young readers to discover Jennie’s story and imagine how their own acts of kindness can make a difference in someone else’s life. All book proceeds support the Governor’s Mansion Foundation’s work to preserve the people’s house for future generations.

Jennie Kearns gave her home to the state, and it became Utah’s Governor’s Mansion. We welcomed students from Kearns-Saint Ann to that home to celebrate Abby’s children’s book, Jennie Makes Room! The book shares Jennie’s story and invites young readers to share, serve, and include others. I’m excited for families to read it together. All proceeds from the book go to the Governor’s Mansion Foundation to help preserve the people’s house for generations of Utahns.

Our trade missions focus on places where Utah businesses have opportunities to reach new customers and build partnerships. Those connections can lead to good-paying jobs for our kids and grandkids and a stronger tax base to support schools, roads, and other services Utahns rely on.

The @Ch_JesusChrist has committed $3 million to help more water reach the Great Salt Lake by removing invasive phragmites along its shores. These aggressive reeds consume twice as much water as native plants, obstruct natural water flows, degrade critical habitat for millions of migratory birds, and increase wildfire risk. The funding will accelerate removal efforts and support long-term wetland restoration led by the Office of the Great Salt Lake Commissioner and @DNR. Together, we’re going to save the Lake.

Yesterday in Dublin, our Utah delegation met with former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern to discuss his role in the 1998 Good Friday Agreement and lessons from his time in office. We appreciated the opportunity to hear his firsthand perspective on leadership and diplomacy.
