بعد سداد الغرامة، أخلي سبيل رئيسة تحرير «مدى مصر»، لينا عطا الله بعد سبع ساعات من احتجازها من قاعة محكمة جنح القاهرة الجديدة، اليوم، عقب الجلسة الأولى لنظر القضية رقم 11743 لسنة 2026 المتهمة فيها بـ«إدارة موقع بدون ترخيص»، والتي حُكم فيها بغرامة ثلاثة ملايين جنيه فضلًا عن غلق موقع «مدى مصر» ومصادرة المعدات والأجهزة، وهي العقوبة القصوى المقررة في تلك التهمة.
وخلال إجراءات إخلاء السبيل، فوجئت عطا الله بوجود حكم غيابي صادر عام 2024 في قضية «نشر أخبار كاذبة وإدارة موقع بدون ترخيص» بحبسها سنة، فتقدم الدفاع بمعارضة على الحكم الغيابي، وتحددت جلسة بتاريخ 11 نوفمبر المقبل لنظر القضية.
وكانت المحكمة رفضت خلال جلسة اليوم طلبات الدفاع بالحصول على وقت كافٍ للاطلاع على أوراق القضية، وضم مستندات وسماع شهود، قبل أن تقرر انتداب محامٍ للدفاع عن عطا الله، رغم حضور ثمانية من محاميها، واعتراضهم وعطا الله نفسها على القرار، بحسب المدير التنفيذي للمبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية، حسام بهجت، الذي حضر الجلسة.

Mada Masr Editor-in-Chief Lina Attalah was released following several hours in custody after the New Cairo Misdemeanor Court convicted her on the charge of managing a website without a license during the first hearing in the session this morning.
The court imposed the maximum penalty for the charge, a LE3 million fine and an order for the closure of Mada Masr’s website and the confiscation of its equipment and devices.
Mada Masr paid the fine in full to the court, waiting several hours before procedures were taken for Attalah’s release.
During the release procedures, Attalah learned of a one-year prison sentence issued against her in absentia in 2024, on charges of publishing false news and managing an unlicensed website. Her lawyers took steps to challenge the ruling, with a hearing in a retrial of the case scheduled for November 11.
During the court session this morning, the court refused to accede to defense lawyers’ requests for an opportunity to review the case file, to submit additional evidence to the court and for additional witnesses to be heard. It then appointed an unknown party to act as Attalah’s defense lawyer, despite the presence of her appointed defense counsel in court and her own objection to being represented by a court-appointed attorney, according to the director of the Egyptian Initiative for Human Rights, Hossam Bahgat.

POLICE CALLED AFTER DISPUTE AT 3-YEAR-OLD’S SOCCER GAME IN FLORIDA 😳
The family of 3-year-old Nevada says he was removed from an i9 Sports youth soccer league in Winter Park after complaints about him dominating games against older children.
🗣️ His father: “They really called the police on a 3-year-old because he had the ball too much.”
Per police records: the league director called officers about a dispute involving Nevada’s parents and said the decision to remove him was over their behavior.
The family maintains Nevada was being unfairly singled out for playing too well.
Police described the family as cooperative and confirmed nobody was arrested, issued a trespass warning or forced to leave the park.

A bus fitted with oxygen tanks is helping people breathe in the haze of ongoing forest fires on the Indonesian island of Borneo.
Respiratory illnesses linked to the fires have increased and air pollution levels in many areas are categorised as hazardous.
Indonesia’s seasonal forest fires, mainly in Borneo and Sumatra, are the most intense in more than a decade this year.
The super El Niño has driven up temperatures, leaving the country vulnerable to fires that have turned skies orange across Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
