Rockets Crush Mavericks 128-110 in Season Opener Behind Durant and Smith Jr.

2026-10-22T08:46:32Z

The Houston Rockets dominated the Dallas Mavericks 128-110 on Wednesday night at Toyota Center, exploding for a 38-12 second quarter that turned a slim lead into a 32-point halftime cushion. Durant scored 30 points efficiently in 37 minutes, while Smith Jr. added 30 with four threes and solid defense; Alperen Sengun posted 23 points and 10 rebounds. Cooper Flagg led Dallas with 32 points in a gritty effort, and Kyrie Irving returned after nearly 600 days to score 15, but 21 turnovers fueled Houston's win. The Rockets shot over 53 percent and drained 16 threes, starting 1-0 while Dallas sits at 0-1.
