From E53 to G65. Nearly three decades of BMW X5 history. I was in high school when BMW introduced the original E53 X5 in 1999. My mom took delivery of one of the first examples in Titanium Silver, and seeing that vehicle for the first time remains a core memory of mine. Fast forward 27 years, and IND has just welcomed our all-new 2027 BMW G65 X5 development vehicle. For our first photoshoot, we brought the original E53 and the new G65 together. Seeing these two generations side by side is a remarkable reminder of how far BMW has come and just how important the X5 has been to the brand's history. We've put together a special article covering the origins of the E53, rare early BMW Designworks sketches, my personal connection to the original X5, and our first impressions and development plans for the new G65. A 3,000-mile A90 Supra made the trip from Pennsylvania to IND for one of the most significant upgrades you can make to the chassis, the RKP full replacement carbon fiber roof.
