🚨 Exclusive: The White House made a direct call to FIFA to ask Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun’s red card.
FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee.
FIFA sources insist White House influence could not affect the decision due to the powers contained in Article 27 and the independent nature of the disciplinary panel.
Brighton get their first ever Premier League win at the Etihad Stadium. Yasin Ayari with the only goal against Manchester City. Brighton only two points off the top.📈
Bournemouth up to seventh after a 2-0 win over Leeds United.
Since losing 5-1 to Chelsea, Bournemouth have won six in a row in all competitions without conceding. Brilliant run of form.🍒
🚨 Michael Carrick says he expects to be in charge for Roma on Tuesday in the #UCL. "I am just looking forward to getting the boys ready for midweek now."
FT: Chelsea 2 Manchester United 0. A sensational Morgan Rogers run and finish and a Cole Palmer penalty send Chelsea fourth.
Lisandro Martinez foolishly sent off for a second yellow after fouling Wesley Fofana for the penalty. He wasn't even looking at the ball. Just totally needless, and rightly red carded. Madness from an experienced defender, and even more so given Martinez had been booked a minute earlier.
Manchester United failed to take a string of first-half chances, Amad and Bruno Fernandes with the best of them, and Chelsea made them pay after the break.
#CFC came out for the second half with more purpose while #MUFC looked a bit passive after the break even before the goals went in.
Estêvão so lively and had two disallowed goals on his first Premier League start this season.
Romeo Lavia also excellent and played a key role through his tenacity in the build up to Rogers' opener.
And Mike Penders made a stunning save in injury time to deny a fiercely-hit Bryan Mbeumo volley. Penders was also solid against Liverpool in the League Cup and now has a clean sheet. Good response after his error against Spurs.
Manchester United now on a nine-game winless run. Just one win and 10 goals scored. They could end the weekend in the relegation zone. Can't go bottom, though, because Coventry and playing Sunderland.🔵🔴
Chelsea 2 Manchester United 0. Cole Palmer from the penalty spot. Looks like game over. Lisandro Martinez has cost #MUFC.🔵
Chelsea 1 Manchester United 0. Morgan Rogers with a sensational driving run and finish after magnificent work from Romeo Lavia.🔵
HT: Chelsea 0 Manchester United 0. Manchester United the better side but haven't been able to score.
Matheus Cunha's poacher's finish from a corner was narrowly ruled out for offside.
Amad should have also scored when clean through after an error from Wesley Fofana, the second time in the game the Chelsea defender gifted Amad a run on goal.
Estêvão has been bright for Chelsea and also had a disallowed goal for offside.
Moises Caicedo also hit the post but the ball appeared to come off his hand.
Hard to see this one finishing 0-0.🔵🔴

I’d like to apologise to Aston Villa, the owners & their fans.
My language this week was clumsy & wrong.
I can assure Villa fans it was tongue in cheek but I can understand it’s not come across that way, so apologies.
Good luck today UTV!
🚨 Bruno Fernandes back in the #MUFC XI to face Chelsea.
Aston Villa say they will initiate legal action against Jamie Carragher for his "unacceptable insults about the Club and its fans".
Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris adds, "Aston Villa will not allow anyone to stop our ascension in English and European football."

BREAKING: Fears Maxence Lacroix is out until the New Year with a hamstring injury.
Sources say Lacroix sustained a grade three tear against Liverpool.
Xabi Alonso said today it will be "a few weeks" until Lacroix is fully fit, but it is not thought Lacroix will be back immediately after the November break.
Although Chelsea are yet to put a definitive timescale on a return, @talkSPORT understands Lacroix is facing at least two months out.🏥
