BREAKING: Quebec will switch to standard time this weekend, PERMANENTLY.
Standard time, also known as natural time, is the best option for our eating habits and health. Good move. Atlantic Canada will likely follow, leaving Ontario as the only province still changing its clocks.

If you get good at sports betting, the apps start shrinking how much you're allowed to bet.
Massachusetts regulators confirmed it last fall after making every sportsbook in the state hand over its account data. Winning bettors were getting their max bet cut, and the people who kept losing were getting their limits bumped up.
Think about that next time a betting ad comes on. DraftKings spent $1.38 billion on sales and marketing in 2025, and that money comes out of what its customers lose. The company brought in $6.05 billion in revenue, so about 23 cents of every dollar it kept went right back into finding the next person to download the app.
And they've gotten a lot better at keeping your money. Back in 2019, US sportsbooks held onto about $6.90 out of every $100 people bet. By 2025 they were holding $10.20, and a big chunk of that came from parlays.
Here's the math most people never do before placing one. A regular bet at standard -110 odds costs you about 4.5 cents per dollar over time. String four coin-flip bets together and a fair payout would be $16 for every $1 you put in. The app gives you about $13.28, which is a 17% house edge. Go to 10 legs and a fair payout would be $1,024, the app pays around $643, and now the house is taking 37%.
The real-world numbers line up. In the six states that break out parlay results, sportsbooks kept 18.6% of every dollar bet on parlays in 2025.
That's also why the limits barely cost them anything. Only 0.64% of Massachusetts accounts had any limit on them at all, because the parlay math gets almost everyone before they win enough to get flagged.
UCLA and USC researchers went through the credit files of about 7 million Americans before and after legalization. In states with online betting, the odds of someone going bankrupt went up 28%, and debt getting sent to collections went up 8%. Young guys in low-income counties got hit the hardest.
Those commercials are a bet too, and it's one the sportsbook basically never loses. They're betting you'll never sit down and do the math on a four-leg parlay.

The Seahawks owe Quenton Nelson the remaining $9.777 million on his contract for 2026 and he's set to be a free agent in March.
Seattle has traded for players on expiring contracts before -- including Leonard Williams and Rasheed Shahid -- and gotten deals done later.
Trade! The Colts are sending eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.

What an indictment:
“And so ended the reign of Premier David Eby. A man New Democrats considered only three years and 11 months ago to be the one worthy successor to carry John Horgan’s mantle. But who instead, in less than a full term, squandered Horgan’s 13-seat majority and $6-billion budget surplus into a loss of almost 30 seats and $14-billion budget deficit.”
The @bcndp left 2 years of majority gov on the table, in part because of a caucus, cabinet and party that refused to stand up to a sinking leader and start the process of finding a new one. Instead, he drove the party off a cliff.

A message from Emily, Dustin, and the Byfuglien family to you, Winnipeg 💙
I’ve been trying to find the right words to describe what this weekend meant to our family, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do it justice.
Winnipeg, you gave us something this weekend that I didn’t realize how much I needed. A goodbye we never really got to have.
The way our chapter in Winnipeg ended wasn’t how any of us imagined it would. There were a lot of emotions, a lot left unsaid, and a goodbye that never really happened. For years, I’ve carried a little sadness about that. Not because of the hockey, but because of the people.
Because Winnipeg was never just about hockey to us.
It was a city that embraced our family, watched our children grow, celebrated with us, and stood behind us through so many incredible years. The friendships, the memories, the familiar faces in the stands, and the kindness we experienced are things I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Coming back this weekend and feeling that same love after all these years was overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Every hug, every kind word, every person who stopped us to share a memory or simply say hello reminded me just how special this city and its people truly are.
I know the ending was complicated. I know there were feelings on all sides. But this weekend reminded me that sometimes the love and memories you leave behind are bigger than the way a chapter ends.
And maybe that’s what made this weekend so emotional. We finally got to feel the goodbye we missed, and it was more beautiful than I could have imagined.
To the fans who loved and supported our family for all those years, and who welcomed us back like no time had passed, thank you. You gave us more than you probably realize.
Winnipeg will always hold a piece of my heart. Not because of the games, the wins, or the hockey, but because of the people who made it feel like home.
Some chapters don’t end the way we hoped. But sometimes, if we’re lucky, we get one more moment to remember just how beautiful they were.
Thank you, Winnipeg. For all of it. Xo
